Publisher's summary

My name is Barry, although it might as well be Loser. Satan owns my soul, and my demon boss, Margery, tortures me with her magical cigarettes every chance she gets. While I’m desperate for freedom, I’ll do anything to stop her from opening the Gates of Hell…or any other crazy thing she has planned. My odds of saving mankind are uncertain, but I have to try.

Call for Obstruction is the introduction to The Courier series. It won the Textnovel Writing Contest for its unique characters and dark humor. It’s fast-paced like a video game and hard to pause.

Listen to this book if you’re a fan of Christopher Moore, Terry Pratchet, or Jim Butcher. You’re sure to have a damned good time!

A Fun Take on Angels v. Satan

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

The blurb for this book say to listen if you are a fan of Jim Butcher or Christopher Pratt. I would say that this is more in line with Christopher Pratt than Jim Butcher [although I am a fan of both.] The story is full of sarcasm, witty observations and a fun take of Satan v. Angels taking over the world through a courier service. I especially loved Margery, Barry's boss, who is described as a 5 foot tall Troll doll [including the height of her hair], plus the narrator provided her with a Jewish New York accent - which made me like her even more.

The narrator, Jack Wallen, was excellent. He narrated at a good pace and provided distinctive character voices.

Sarcastic Urban Fantasy

This was an entertaining beginning to a series of sarcastic urban fantasy, a different way of painting the battle between angels and demons. The main character is owned by the devil (literally) and tormented by his demon boss, but still intends on standing in the way of them conquering the world through a courier service. And it just goes on from there entertaining and sardonically all the way.
