Study of Ornamentation of Terracotta the Art of


Chhattisgarh in Indian and Western Garments

Abstract:- Chhattisgarh are popular for crafting


Terracotta handicrafts. In this presented research work,
ornamentation of Terracotta art directly on Indian and
western garments. And then notice the people of Raipur
city who will adopt them are more likely to like
Terracotta art on Indian garments and Terracotta art on
Western garments.

Keywords:- Terracotta craft,Garment Ornamentation.

I. INTRODUCTION

Chhattisgarh is located in central part of India


.Chhattisgarh is a state of rich heritage of Terracotta Art
.The Terracotta Art in Chhattisgarh has potential to provide
large scale rural livelihoods with minimum infrastructure
cost. Chhattisgarh state was constituted by the division of
Madhya Pradesh on 1st November 2000.

Chhattisgarh is located in the heart of India, and Fig 2:- Regions of Chhattisgarh
shares its borders with six states of the country: Uttar
Pradesh to the north, Jharkhand to the north-east, Orissa to  Different Categories Of Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Are:-
the east, Maharashtra to the south – west and Andhra Bell Metal, Wrought Iron, Terracotta, Godna, Tumba,
Pradesh to the south – east. Handloom, Wood Craft [KashtaShilp], Sisal Craft (Jute
Craft) , Shell Craft , Clay Art , Bamboo Craft.

II. TERRACOTTA ART

The soft red soils from the rivebed are gently coaxed
by the potters hands into utility items as well as
contemplorary decorative pieces. The potter moulds the
pliant soil form the rivers upper layer into gentle curves and
shapes, baking them in a slow fire when dry. Once ready be
colours them in deep sienna tones with soil form the deeper
layers of the river bed. His nimble hands create pots or
matkas, elephants, horses and lamps.

In this presented research work, use only lightweight


Terracotta art and cover the art piece with the help of
chemicals for the purpose of durability. Some Terracotta art
that was done in the garment is as follows:

Area of the study – we collected the terracotta art piece from
bastar district of chhattisgarh.

Selection of respondents for survey has been selected


from the college going girls Raipur city.Raipur is the
capital of chhattisgarh. Raipur is known for its rich history
and cultural heritage. After being capital youngster from
Raipur city forget our traditional art so in this research work,
again youngster like our traditional art in chhattisgarh.

 Sample selection and sample size –


Sample selection of Terracotta art –In this present research
work only lightweight Terracotta art piece selected for the
study.picture no. 1,2,3, presented this art form.

Sample size -100 sample selected for study.

Data collection – The data obtained regarding tendency and


responded towards Terracotta art of college going girls was
based on responded to questionnaire intended for this
purpose.

Tools and equipment – we have collected data by personal


interview , questionnaire,observation.

Analysis and Result – Responses of college going girls


towards Terracotta art ornamentetion on indian and western
garment has been studied through questionnaire.

The result of different dimension of Terracotta art have


been presented in the following dimensions-

V. CONCLUSION

The present study was based on Terracotta art of

that Terracotta art are so beautiful and perfect for designing.
How many girl's like the Terracotta art liked by many college going girl’s and they
want to use these and achieve yongster’s interest has been
