The White House is considering a banker as one of the possible nominees for Federal Reserve governor, according to people familiar with the nomination procedure.

As of present, Robert Jones works as the CEO and Chairman of Old National Bancorp, a publicly traded company located in Indiana. He previously worked at the Federal Advisory Council and served as one of St. Louis Fed's board director.

An Old National spokesperson refused to provide an official statement on the report. The financial institutions has about $15 billion in assets in the first quarter of this year.

Currently, the Fed Board has three vacant positions. It was said that senior Treasury official Randal Quarles and Carnegie Mellon University's Marvin Goodfriend are being eyed as finalists for the two other posts at the Fed.
