intersect
Photography by Jordan Hancock
On Sat March 25, a full capacity of nearly 90 adults and kids participated in an artful afternoon of drawing and coloring under the personalized tutelage of prominent local artists while seated at tables enjoying food and drinks atop the Parkers' Lighthouse.
"It was lots of fun and a tremendous success", said Committee Member Cheri Hawks in raising over $7,000 for the Bluff Park Historic Lamppost Project.
Committee Co-Chair
Marco Pizzo
announced that the money "will be used to fund the 2nd phase of the Project. The Pilot Phase has been funded and is scheduled to break ground later this year."
Special thanks goes to all of the corporate sponsors, patrons, donors, artists, volunteers, neighbors, media, and community leaders who contributed.
Guests heard remarks from Long Beach Third District Councilwoman Suzie Price, Port of Long Beach's Manager of Community Relations
Mario Gonzalez
, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn's Field Deputy Herlinda Chico.
By the end of the afternoon, the participants left with smiles and a clipboard with drawings and colorings that they created. Along with over 50 auction items donated by local businesses, individuals and organizations supporting the cause!
Please enjoy the photos, volunteer to get involved, and support those who supported us!

BRINGING LAMPPOST HISTORY BACK
Now Funding & Seeking Volunteers for 2nd Phase
Bluff Park Historic Lamppost Project has the vision to remove the modern, uncharacteristic ‘cobra’ street lights in the Bluff Park Historic Neighborhood District and replace them with replicas that match the look and pattern of the ornamental late-1920's lampposts that currently exist only along East 1st Street.
HISTORIC EVIDENCE
shows that ornamental lampposts once existed, and were planned, more broadly in the District.
ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER
is still in business to this day and will be used to make the new replica lampposts using the original specifications and drawings.
FIRST PHASE
has been funded! Thanks to dozens of donors, sponsors, fundraiser patrons,, Councilwoman Suzie Price and Mayor Robert Garcia.
PALOMA AVENUE
residents, who were the first to contribute all together, will have replica lampposts installed later this year along their street.
NEXT PHASES
will occur to address the entire District, timed based on where residents show the most commitment.
TAX-DEDUCTIBLE
personal donations, corporate sponsorships, corporate matching gifts, grants, and fundraisers have helped us raise over $140,000. We are now fundraising for the next phase!
ENGRAVED PLAQUES
will be affixed to newly installed lampposts to recognize significant charitable contributions of $1,000 or more. There is only limited time to get your plaque on the Pilot Phase.
EMPLOYEE MATCHING GIFTS
and
CORPORATE GRANTS
can make your donation even more meaningful and go further. CLICK HERE to see if your employer matches gifts.
GOING GREEN
The City is changing all of its street lights to LED. As a historic district, the lampposts in our neighborhood will have a light quality specially suited for our district.
DEDICATION CELEBRATION
is anticipated late-summer 2017 coinciding with the Pilot Phase completion and BPNA's 35th Anniversary.
JOIN OUR TEAM
and build upon the camaraderie. For the next phase and other functions of BPNA, we welcome and need assistance in a variety of different volunteer areas.
Get Involved. Support Your Community.
