No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to have a decent place to live. We deserve to feel strength and stability day after day. We deserve to know we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own futures.

At Habitat for Humanity, this is what unites us. Through shelter, we empower. Our shared vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Because you, me, we-we're all humans. And every single one of us deserves the opportunity for a better future.

Throughout October a collection of artwork from local artists and prisoners from Northland Regional Correction Facility will be displayed contemplating the power of shelter, in order to raise money to build a Habitat for Humanity home. This home will be built in partnership with Northland Regional Corrections Facility. Habitat puts great value on this partnership with Corrections. We see building homes as a process that will not only benefit the deserving family who will one day own the home, but also provides a great opportunity for the prisoners to gain work experience, preparing them for a career in construction while also helping a Northland whanau in housing need.

Join us on the 30th October at 5.30pm in the Whangarei Art Museum as we auction off this fabulous artwork. Ticket price includes a glass of bubbles on arrival, canapes and music.

A special thank you to these local artists for their amazing contribution: Anastasia Baranova, Anneke Muijlwijk, Claire Furlong, Bevan Holmes, Dawn Dutton, Gabi Pfaender, Housing New Zealand, Joanna Skyrme, Katherine Batchelor, Kim Johnson, Leeanne Hopper, Mark Burkill, Maureen Baker and Suzanne Liddall.

This event is in partnership with Northland Regional Corrections Facility, Whangarei Art Museum, Creative Northland, NZME, and LJHooker.
