Morgan Freeman’s ‘Comments’ About Hillary Clinton Going To Prison Don’t Exist

So far, Monday, October 30, has been a pretty crazy day in the world of politics. With Paul Manafort and Rick Gates being indicted following the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation to learn of Russia’s potential interference in the 2016 presidential election, the internet has been in an absolute uproar. That story was only a piece to the puzzle, which also included news of former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos pleading guilty to lying to the FBI.

Unsurprisingly, all of this comes with its fair share of the real kind of fake news. It didn’t take long for the internet to circulate a story about Morgan Freeman’s “comments” about Hillary Clinton in which the actor allegedly said that the former presidential candidate should be in jail. The thing is, Freeman never actually said anything of the sort.

According to Gossip Cop, a site by the name of Neon Nettle quoted Freeman in a recent story, and it ended up getting a bit of attention today. Some people believed that Freeman actually said the following in an interview — and then these comments (which were never actually made) circulated on social media.

“Hillary belongs in prison for the crimes she has committed. She has abused her position for too long to make millions for herself and her cronies… no one is above the law… and he needs to do that by sending her to jail for her unlawful deeds. Goddamnit man! The woman’s committed high treason! Lock her up,” were Freeman’s “words,” according to the site.

It was also reported that Freeman thought that Clinton was deserving of the death penalty — which he also never said.

Freeman hasn’t even commented on the story at all. It seems as though the actor was an “easy target,” just as he is often the target of those never-ending death hoaxes.

Beyond that, Freeman has been a Clinton supporter for quite some time and even lent his famous voice for one of her ads during her campaign. As Gossip Cop points out, if Freeman actually made such comments about Clinton, it would be a huge story today and would be covered by media giants from Fox to CNN. However, no such news is being reported by the mainstream media, and this story really has nowhere to go.

Regardless, people have been using the fake Freeman quote on all social media platforms, with many trying to fire back at Republicans who have been voicing their opinions on President Trump and the newly unsealed court documents that have some of his affiliates in big trouble. However, Freeman’s name shouldn’t be a part of any of those discussions because he has nothing to do with them, one way or the other.
