필리프 스타르크

Philippe Starck

필리프 스타르크(프랑스어: Philippe Starck, 1949년 1월 18일 ~ )은 프랑스의 제품 디자이너이다. 파리 에콜 카몽도(École Camondo)에서 교육을 받았으며, 1968년에 공기 주입식 제품들을 생산하는 첫 번째 회사를 설립 하였고, 1969년에는 피에르 가르뎅의 아트 디렉터가 되었다.

생애

1949년 프랑스 파리에서 태어났다. 항공기 엔지니어였던 아버지의 영향을 받아 주변의 물건들을 분해, 조립하는 것을 즐겼으며 이는 그의 남다른 기계적 원리 이해력의 원천이 되었다. 19세의 나이에 일찍 자신의 회사를 설립하였으며 1982년 미테랑 대통령 재임시에는 엘리제궁 안의 개인 사저 인테리어 디자인을 위임받으면서 국제적 명성을 얻었다. "나는 부자를 위해 2억 달러짜리 요트도 디자인하지만, 가난한 사람도 살 수 있는 2달러짜리 우유병도 디자인한다."라는 그의 말에서 볼 수 있듯 그가 디자인 하지 않는 제품은 찾기 힘들 정도로 다양한 분야에서 작업을 하고 있다.

경력

1970년대 중반 파리 몽트뢰유의 라 맹 블루 (La Main Bleu)나이트 클럽과 레 뱅 두슈(Les Bains Douches) 나이트 클럽의 실내 장식을 하면서 이름이 알려지기 시작했다. 1979년에는 Starck Product를 설립하였고, 1982년 엘리제궁 안의 개인사저 인테리어를 설계 할 때부터 세계적으로 그의 이름을 알리기 시작하였다.

1989년에는 일본에서 새로운 형태의 빌딩을 고안하고,1990년 뉴욕의 파라마운트 호텔,1994년 호텔 페닌슐라 호텔, 2003년 파리 콩 레스토랑 등 1975년부터 2002년까지 인테리어 디자이너이자 제품 디자이너로 다양한 활동을 하였다.

그의 최근 주목할만한 활동으로는마이크로소프트 광학 마우스(Microsoft Optical Mouse), 3억 달러의모터 요트 A(MOTOR YACHT A)를 비롯한 여러 요트 등이 있다.
