Tiger Woods's ex breaks her silence about his infidelities

The ex-wife of Tiger Woods has finally spoken publicly about the golfer's repeated infidelities.

Elin Nordegren says while she has moved on from her relationship with the former world No.1, she "went through the wringer" when their six-year marriage fell apart amidst a tabloid storm almost five years ago.

"I felt safe with him," the 34-year-old Swede told People magazine.

"The word betrayal isn’t strong enough."

Woods's life as a serial cheater – it has been reported that he slept with at least a dozen women while married to Nordegren – unraveled in late 2009.

Nordegren still lives close to Woods in Florida and says their relationship is now focused on their two children, Alexis (6) and Charlie (5).

"I have moved on, and I am in a good place," she said.

"My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children and we are doing really good – we really are – and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father.

"I'm happy for Tiger ... In general, in any kind of step-parent relationship, I'm happy that there's somebody else loving my children."

Nordegren, a child of divorced parents herself, says she never doubted she and Woods would sort out their differences for the sake of their children.

A psychology student, Nordegren went through intensive therapy sessions when the relationship broke down and still sees a therapist every week so she can keep "working on myself."

"In the beginning, you tamp down the animosity for the kids' sake," she says.

"I'm not going to deny that I went through the wringer.

"But I don't think I doubted we'd end up here.

"That was always my dream, that the kids can have two loving parents that show respect for each other. And I feel that's what they have."

Both Woods and Nordegren have moved on to different relationships - Woods with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and Nordegren with coal magnate Chris Cline.

Woods, Nordegren and Vonn have regularly been spotted together with the two children.
