Q: What is Assassin Hunt?
A: Assassin Hunt is a mod developed by @Patta (mod board link), which sadly became dead.
The mod is pretty simple and extremely fun: you are an assassin in a town full of townsmen (bots) and your objective is a simple one: kill the other players.


Q: If there is already a mod, why did you made it a native gamemode?
A: Because the mod is dead, is very hard to find players to play it with. So by making it native compatible, people will be able to join the server and play the gamemode without downloading anything.


Q: So... What is the difference between this and native deathmatch?
A: The difference is that all players wears the same cloths as the townsmen and the weapons are hidden. In other words, you need to distinguish an assassin from a townsman, by analysing/observing the world around you (how they move, how they act). Also you need to act like a townsman, so you won't get detected by the other players.

A: Yep, same guy.

How to play:
After joining the server, you will choose a team. Just choose one, it doesn't matter which one. Then you need to select a troop. Choose carefully because it represents what class of assassin you will be.
If you select archer/crossbowman, then you will spawn with a knife and a xbow with 10 bolts.
If you select infantry, then you will spawn with a knife and throwing knives.
If you choose horseman, then you will spawn with a dagger and a pistol with 10 bullets.
The equipment doesn't matter, just hit the 'Done' button and you will be able to spawn.

After spawning you will notice that you don't have any weapon. That is because they are 'hidden'. If you press the 'equip next weapon' button, your weapons will appear on you (you can also press the 'Equip Item 1/2/3/4' button). Now to hide the weapons, press the 'Sheath' button (preferably bind it on something close to your wasd keys, because you will use it frequently).
You can change your cloths by using the doors that are on the map (go to them and press 'f').

Most of the doors gives you random cloths, but there are some that give the same cloths each time (right now are only two: the one next to the blacksmith will give you blacksmith outfit and the one near the merchant will give you merchant outfit).

Q: What happens if I kill the townsmen?
A: You shouldn't kill the townsmen. But if you do, the marker system kicks in.
It works like this: each time you kill a townsman, you get +1 townsmen kills. If 15 seconds passed since your last townsman kill, your townsman kill count decreases by one. Then, after 15 seconds, it will decrease again by one and so on until it reaches 0. If you have more than 3 townsmen kills, then you will get marked (you will have a big arrow on top of your head, so other players will know that you are assassin and will kill you). The marker will disappear after your townsmen kills reaches 0.
Also the guards will be notified and will try to kill you until you are no longer marked.

Q: How can I change the map?
A: You can by polling to change the map. The first map in the list (map Ruins) represents the first assassin hunt map (AH map 1). The second map in the list represents the second ah map and so on. Note that there are only 6 maps, so map 'Nord Town' is the last one that can be polled.


Random info:
- the merchant and the blacksmith are 'special' bots, but they don't do anything (right now, will implement stuffs later)
- the townsmen can sometime swing their fist (there is 1 in 100 chances for this to happen... pretty small but it happens)
- pistol does 1 hit 1 kill
- throwing knives assassin class has the longest knife; it also deals the most damage
- you can't block with melee weapons
- there are no horses
- you can't equip guard's shields
- if you hit a guard (even kick or punch), you will alert them and they will not stop to try to kill you until you die


Tips:
1. Choose your face carefully. Strange faces are much easier to recognize than common ones.
2. Don't watch movies while playing. It will get you distracted and get you killed.
3. Don't choose black skin because the server is racist and there are no black townsmen.
4. Don't choose female character because all townsmen are... males.
5. Change your outfit after each kill or fight because you will sweat and the assassins will detect you by smell.
6. You can kill the blacksmith and the merchant and take their places.
7. If you see someone jumping or kicking, then that is 100% an assassin. Kill him!
8. Don't attack townsmen.
9. Learn how townsmen acts and copy them for 'prefect' disguise.

How to install the gamemode:
1. Go into folder 'modules' within dedicated server main folder
2. Rename (or delete) the "Native" folder to something else (like "Native original")
3. Open the zip that you downloaded
4. Open 'Native.7z'
5. Copy the folder "Native" to 'modules' folder
6. Copy 'assassin_hunt_dm.txt' to dedicated server main folder
7. Copy 'Assassin_Hunt_Native_Gamemode_Start.bat' to dedicated server main folder
8. Edit 'assassin_hunt_dm.txt' (change admin pass, server name, etc)
9. Start the gamemode by using the bat file

If you want to mod it, you have the module system inside '1.166 - assassin hunt native - ms.7z' .


1. Entry points 0 - 49 are the entry points for spawning of both, players and townsmen (they are also the moving point for townsmen)
2. Entry point 50 is the spawnpoint of blacksmith
3. Entry points 51 - 53 are the spawnpoints for merchant (he will randomly choose to move between them)
4. Entry points 54 - 57 are the spawnpoints for guards.
5. Entry point 60 must be added somewhere outside the town (make sure it is not visible to players; it is used by the code for temp storing stuffs)
6. The doors are normal doors (except the earth sally door and the viking keep sally door), with variations id as follows:
  - first variation id:
          - 0 - will act like a normal door (will open/close)
          - 1 - will change the cloths
  - second variation id:
          - 0 - random cloths
          - 1 - blacksmith cloths
          - 2 - merchant cloths
7. Make sure to MAKE the AI mesh (not automatic, manually)
I won't accept maps without correct AI mesh!

 
 
Oh my! You made my day, dragon. I can't believe this mod is resureccted again. Being worked on this several years ago gives me chills now. Thank you a lot mate!

Sorry for that!
I pushed a new version but I still don't know if the server will gonna crash. I don't know why it is crashing because warband developers made it so your only hope is to guess what is wrong.
 
Hello. I really like that gamemode but I think that some changes would make it better. First knives. Could it be hard to make them kill in one hit? Becouse at the moment even if I catch player completly offguard  he still can survive at least 3 hits and from silent assasination it goes to hit spamming knife fight. It should be like backstab in tf2, killing instantly. Second problem are guards. I seen often players killing guards just for their weapns to have advantage on others with knives. And guards are very easy to kill, literally one bullet from pistol can do that. Can you make guards weapons unpickable pls?
 
That feeling wandering the town, when you dont know if it is a townsman passing by or assasin coming for your life.
Awsome mode, havent so much fun for a long time. Very unique and interesting gameplay. I will definitly recommend this mode to my friends.
I have two concerns however. First is guards leaving good weapons after you kill them, which makes its rewarding killing them. Second, when there only good assasins on server, rarely something happens, because its hard to track one. I think it would be great to add some feature, which will expose assasins if nothing happens for some time.
