The poor pass rate registered this year at the secondary education graduation examination indicates that we find ourselves in an extremely serious, even alarming, situation, PM Victor Ponta stated after his meeting with Education Minister Ecaterina Andronescu on Tuesday.

“As the Executive appreciates it, the case regarding the Baccalaureate results is alarming, and the pass rate proves that we find ourselves in a critical situation”, Victor Ponta declared on Tuesday.

Ponta met minister Andronescu on Tuesday and was handed in the partial conclusions of the Baccalaureate results analysis. The pupils’ appeals are going to be reviewed this week.

The PM asked the Education Minister for actual measures after the final analysis of all the Baccalaureate results
”As the appeals are analyzed, we must take action on rectifying this situation. We shall be waiting for minister Andronescu’s proposals in the near future, some actual measures”, the MP said to minister Andronescu.

Ponta: There will be separate subjects at the technological high schools

Ponta said that the Executive would take into consideration several solutions for that purpose, including introducing separate subjects at the technological high schools.

However, he specified that the current supervising system would remain unchanged and it would be extended in order to confute violence in schools.
The pass rate at the Baccalaureate’s summer session at national level before settling the appeals is 43.04%, 1.43% lower than the 2011 pass rate.
