We revised our directions to stay current with the most recent research. The label of the 1000mg product is in the process of being updated to state "take on an empty stomach".

amino acids are best taken without other proteins in your stomach which break down to amino's also...to get the most therapeutic effect..on empty stomach would be best

I've used both the 500mg and the 1000mg doses. I usually take a tablet with a meal, but on many occasions I've taken one without a meal. Unlike other supplements I've used, L-Lysine doesn't make my stomach upset if I take it without a meal.

This pill is approximately .3125 “ x .750”. It is not coated.

Not small and no not coated, I grind them in a pill grinder, could be put in a drink, quite tasteless

It&#39;s about the size of an adult multi-vitamin...rather large.  They are NOT coated, which is the one reason I do not like them.  They get stuck in my throat often.  But they do seem to be helping!

The shape of the Spring Valley L-Lysine 500mg tablets changed in 2012.

I can&#39;t say if they&#39;ve changed as I&#39;ve only been on it a few months, but the bottle I have is white oblong pills.  Capsule-shaped, but not a capsule.

I have been taking this for probably close to a decade now… And luckily, the formula has stayed the same. I have not had a cold sore since taking it daily. It's the only thing that works for me!

I buy this Lysine every month I keep a bottle of this around the house all the time I take anywhere from 2 to 7 a day because it keeps cold sores away from your mouth, mouth and lips. It really works. If you feel one coming on, you can take as many as you can swallow the more you take the faster. It'll clear it up but if you take a day every day, it will keep cold sores away and this is just fine.

I've used this for years. I don't take it daily but the moment I feel a cold sore coming on, I start taking 2-3 per day for a couple of days and the cold sore blister never comes out.  This was originally recommended by a pharmacist.

I was sent 1000 mg of lysine instead of 500mg. This is not an acceptable substitution. I cut the pills in half already so cutting them in quarters is out of the question. Plus they have sharp edges when they are cut anyway. I cancelled the substituted order. Bad choice Walmart.

So far I don't have anything negative to say about the supplements. the only thing I'm sad about is that I was suggested this before I saw the 1000 mg at like $5.26. but no worries I'll just make sure to purchase that next time hopefully it provides me with the energy that I've been looking for.

This is a good dosage per pill for the size and price. However, they are a little chalky and can be difficult to swallow/get stuck. They would be better if they were coated.
