Meghan Markle’s telling Instagram posts that lift the lid on how Prince Harry wooed her
THE first flushes of love between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been revealed - in a tantalising collection of Instagram snaps.
Clues as to how Prince Harry wooed his future bride have emerged in a string of romantic Instagram photos posted at the time they first started dating.
They reveal that the royal may have showered his love with stunning bouquets of flowers and even Love Hearts sweets.
The Suits actress, who will wed the fifth heir to the throne in a May wedding next year after their engagement was announced on Monday, showed that love was in the air at the time of their “back to back” first two dates last July.
On July 1st last year, the 36-year-old American posts a picture of her standing over a glorious bunch of pink and white peonies, with the caption "Swooning over these. #London #peonies #spoiledrotten."
Little was it known at the time that the 33-year-old Prince was the likely donor – and that this floral gift could raise the odds of a peonie-petalled wedding in St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle next year.
Just two days later – possibly in reference to her new love interest – Meghan posts a single "kiss me" love heart – writing "Lovehearts in #London" to her 2.4m followers.
The couple only became public in November last year when Prince Harry issued a statement public confirming their relationship and raising concerns for the safety of Meghan, who had been subject to a "wave of abuse and harassment" in part reacting to her nationality and mixed race heritage.
But in the more positive days of their private romance, Meghan captions a photo of two interlocked, heart-shaped matches with the words "Sunday kind of love".
Away from the eyes of the cameras, the secret tryst continued, with a post of what appears to be her hand holding a card with the sign saying “The foolish wait”.
The discreet social media fan was perhaps hinting at not waiting for love – since we now know she rushed off to secretly meet Harry in Botswana after their two London dates.
Still in secret, the lovestruck pair camped out under the stars on a five-day trip that would cement their relationship.
In what appears now as an apt metaphor for their burgeoning love, Meghan’s last Instagram post referencing their summer of love depicts an enormous bunch of her favourite flowers - peonies in full bloom.
"Because I’m spoiled rotten. #thankyou #peonies #theynevergetold", writes Ms Markle – a hidden missive in one of the most public romances in history.
