Just in case you had any doubts over which of the two big battle royale games were the least “serious”, it’s been revealed that Fornite Battle Royale will soon be getting jetpacks thrown into the mix.
During some customary server issues, many players were unable to login for up to twenty minutes. When everything stabilised, a new update showed that jetpacks would soon be coming to the game with the description of “Take the fight to all new heights.”
Reception to the proposed new item has been mixed so far, to say the least. Many, as is almost standard for any game featuring jetpacks, have made some Call of Duty comparison. It may seem a step too far, but in a game featuring miniguns and grenades that make people dance, is it really?
Personally, I am going to see it in action before I make a judgement. The jetpacks could add some interesting verticality to the game if there’s an option for in-flight combat and also to scale monolithic structures without having to build ramps up to it. Or, if you’re a bit of a bad egg, destroying it from the bottom.
No other information has been divulged so far; CV has reached out to Epic to see if they have further insight on the new item.
