Indian constitution adopted the institution of speaker from Britain
Presiding officer (chairman) of the Lok Sabha who is elected from among its members.
Decides whether a bill is a money bill or not. The decision of Speaker is final.
Joint Session of the two houses is presided by the Speaker
The Speaker should give his resignation letter to Deputy Speaker
Has no right to vote in the house but can caste a vote if there is a tie in passing a bill etc
He is not answerable to anyone except the House
