Russian found stabbed to death in Phuket

The body of a Russian man, Fedor Vasilev, 33, was found with multiple stab wounds to his chest at a hotel in Phuket yesterday morning, along with three suicide notes.

Police in Kathu district were informed of the death by the Royal Crown Hotel on Na Nai Road about 6am.

Vasilev's body was found face-up on his bed on the hotel's second floor. He was wearing a white jersey, a grey shirt, jeans and leather shoes.

Police said there were deep cuts to his wrists and seven stab wounds to his chest. A fruit knife and three suicide notes were found near his body.

Kathu police chief Pol Col Jeeraphat Phochanaphan said the Russian had stayed at the hotel with his transsexual partner, Mesa Phromkerd.

The partner, a 38-year-old from Nakhon Si Thammarat province, was not at the scene when police arrived.
