Maine driver nearly hits Buxton officer during chase, police say
A driver nearly hit a Buxton police officer during a chase through several southern Maine communities, police said.Officers began chasing Edward Lepore, 39, of Tamworth, New Hampshire, in Old Orchard Beach on Wednesday, Buxton police said.The chase continued into Scarborough and Buxton, where a police officer attempted to put down a spike mat.An officer was "nearly struck" while attempting to deploy the mat, police said.The pursuit ended in Standish when Lepore hit a pole.He was wanted on four separate warrants for numerous protection order violations, police said. Lepore was arrested on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
