Gold futures tumble on Thursday

Gold futures tumbled on Thursday, marking biggest session loss in a day since August as dollar held firm against its peers. In addition, concerns on an accelerated slowdown in the US economy and global growth in general, also dampened sentiments.

Gold futures for April delivery settled 1.6% lower at$1,289.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. Spot gold was down $18.60, or 1.4%, at $1,291.16 per ounce.
