Other than indefinitely suspending Billy Bush from Today, NBC hasn’t announced any further plans to punish the 44-year-old host for his role in the Trump Tape scandal. But the network isn’t willing to keep his seat empty on Tuesday, at least.

EW has confirmed that The Voice host Carson Daly will fill in for Bush on Oct. 11 during the third hour of Today. Bush was yanked from the show after the Washington Post published a video from Access Hollywood that captures Bush and Donald Trump making sexual comments about women.

A source suggested to PEOPLE that Bush may not be able to recover from the scandal.

And according to the source, whoever released the tape was looking to harm both Trump and Bush.

“They could have released the tape and edited him out,” the source told PEOPLE about whoever released the tape to the newspaper. “That was the plan — they were trying to approve it and then someone leaked it. That’s what Access Hollywood eventually did, and they played it… but it was already out… If they wanted to protect him, they could have edited it out, which they did on the final Access piece that aired on Friday, but they left it in when it was leaked.”

On Friday, Bush said released this statement: “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago – I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”
