Seven canine units, 5 sonar boats and helicopters Searched Kaw Lake.As crews continue to search for missing country singer Craig Strickland, family members took the time to thank everyone involved in the recovery effort.40/29 News spoke exclusively with Strickland’s wife, Helen Strickland, who said the thoughts and prayers from people all over the world are helping the family find comfort.Watch the video here. "Every time there's a post from some random person who I have never met before that says, ‘Hey, I don't know you, I'm reading this, I'm praying for you, my heart goes out to you,’ it's almost like I don't have to hurt on my own,” Helen Strickland said.The family has waited five days hoping for their loved one to be found.The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has been out on the water from sun up to sundown since Monday working to bring back results.Friday they increased the search with a helicopter, four boats and search dogs.The family thanked the men and women looking for Craig Strickland out in the harsh elements.“The canine units (and) the Kay County Sheriff's Department have been so wonderful to us. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol having gone above and beyond, especially going through this struggle, is the most comforting thing you can have," Helen Strickland said.Thursday, search crews were able to find old track marks and footprints near a peninsula, helping them get a better idea of where the men were hunting on Sunday and narrow their recovery area."To see how much more work can be done in a specific area, it has given us a lot of rest because we feel like that'll give us a lot of hope they will find Craig soon," Helen Strickland said.So as the search goes on, the support from people at home and information from the people on the water give the family hope they will soon have closure."It's more painful for us to think he could be underwater. Still we want that closure in seeing him," Helen Strickland said.The OHP released a statement Friday asking for volunteers not to enter the search area. While crews and the family appreciate the outreach, they say with canines on board, other boats could get in the way of the recovery efforts.Authorities said they plan on continuing their daily search on Kaw Lake until Craig Strickland is found.A GoFundMe account has been started for Craig Strickland's family.
