Palm Springs Albertsons/Sav-On Pharmacy honors Desert AIDS Project with $1,000 donation for its re-opening

CALIFORNIA, 2014-12-15 — /EPR Retail News/ — Blustery weather couldn’t keep customers and community members away from the afternoon ribbon cutting ceremony held in celebration of the newly renovated Palm Springs Albertsons/Sav-On Pharmacy on Dec. 3.

Surrounded by his department managers, Store Director Tim Hesting was elated to talk about his ‘new’ store, “It has been transformed and it’s beautiful!”  No doubt, Hesting has reason to celebrate. Hundreds of new items have now been added to the service deli, produce, meat, liquor and bakery departments – all in time for holiday party planning.

Top on the list of improvements includes an expanded assortment of hot foods in the Service Deli.  Whether it’s to pick up a Dietz and Watson ‘Grab and Go’ sandwich or premium meats or even a selection of olives from the mini olive bar, guests won’t be able to resist adding one more item. Plus, eight additional feet have been added to the salad bar, making room for new specialty offerings like Blue Cheese Wedge, Rainbow Kale salad and more toppings.

The new individually packaged fresh cut fruits and vegetables give the produce department a burst of color and make it easy for customers to pull together easy meal ideas.  And guests looking to change how they eat will find a mix of organically grown favorites like Tuscan Kale, red beets and Romaine lettuce.

For those prepared to host holiday gatherings, they’ll discover plenty of  prepared meal options to choose from including custom cuts of choice beef, chicken, kabobs and Santa Monica Seafood all available in the butcher block.

The store’s Liquor Department has also been upgraded with a new Borgen cooler that maintains premium wines chilled to a perfect ambient temperature. Dozens of new premium champagnes, spirits and craft beers have also been included.

Not to be left out, the bakery department team has added a new freezer case filed with an assortment of confections in all shapes and sizes.  Plus, the new cake case features currently trending pre-made and high end celebration cakes.

Internal upgrades include a new Customer Service Center and lobby area with new associate-staffed Express Lanes.

As part of the festivities, Hesting and his team pledged a $1,000 do nation to the Desert AIDS Project.

The Palm Springs Albertsons/Sav-On Pharmacy store is open to serve the community Monday through Sunday, from 6 a.m. to midnight.  Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
