The Mentors Hub

The Mentors hub is an open area for the Mentors to discuss and field questions, as well as provide help to anyone who needs to it.

Who are the Mentors?

The Mentors are a group of volunteers voted to assist newer players and field questions in regards to RPing, technology, story-mechanics, etc., etc. The main point of the Mentors is to provide an accessible source of assistance through telegrams and thread discussion for players, as well as a means for them to have their RPs checked and improved.

If you have a question or problem with RPing, the Mentors will be able to help you (or at least know the correct place to direct you). NOTE: The Mentors are primarily focused on the Diplomacy category of the Nationstates Forums, excluding NS Sports. General Assembly, Security Council, and F7 RPing are not part of the Mentors' repertoire by default, so in regards to those forums, Mentors will vary greatly in their familiarity and knowledge. The program is primarily for help in the Nationstates, Factbook and National Information, Global Economics and Trade, and International Incidents subforums.

How Do I Apply for Mentors?

The Mentors have a significant backlog of applicants. We want to keep the numbers low for now so that we don't overflow the II and GE&T community with too many Mentors, since not only does that become a drain on the site's administration (since I'm sure Reploid is getting sick of adding and removing Mentors), but also too many teal names does little other than reinforces a surface-level 'for the looks' mentality that people may have problems with. As a result, much of the Mentor numbers will ebb and flow based upon whether they're stretched for more people or whether there's a particularly bad case of widespread 'poor' RPing present.

If you wish to apply for Mentorship, please send a telegram to any of the existing Mentors (listed above), and we will get to your application whenever we are in need of more Mentors.

Since Trainer program is cancelled, I made a new thread for only the Mentors. All questions and comments can be directed here for Mentor assistance, since the old thread was mainly scenarios and evaluations.

Please do not make this thread revolving around why the Trainers were taken down.

I was unaware of the existence of a new mentor hub, but I evidently found it. As a mentor, I am willing to answer the questions of anyone who wishes to ask me something, and am usually available on esper.net IRC as "Carta" or "Milograd." I tend to check my telegram inbox daily, so if I am not available on IRC that is the second best way to contact me. Cheers.

Hm...? I believe it's already mentioned on the Stickies. It's just not stickied.

Maybe sticky this under the thread Have a Question? Ask it Here! and above your guide [FA] A Guide to Getting Started in International Incidents would be a good idea. It'll separate the general question with the more specific RP questions.

There's no need to separate them, and mentors handle the Ask a Question thread, as well, anyway.

I would like to request help from someone willing to teach me the ins and outs of raiding / military operations.

I have read a few threads on here about rping, but have little actual rp experience. I am a new country in a past tech level relative to Vikings. I do wish to have several extras that were not available to the vikings however such as liquid fire or pretty much whatever they are allowed to have in Age of Empires 2 Conquerors edition. I will be working on a map of my nation and it's terrain as I read was helpful from one of the RP help threads.

Anyways, the tl;dr of it is:
I wanna know how to be a good warring nation, and would appreciate your help.

You know, I realized that I am very helpful with new players via telegram and always work hard when someone really needs it, I should become mentors assistant, to give them the nudge to see who needs help.

Common I need something to do! I'll do anything, even do the word checking for them when they write something up.

Anyways in a real legit post.

How large is to large on NSRP?

for instance if I have a few islands larger than say Europe or Russia and they are capable of holding more life, then what would my limit realistically be?

I am posting here to bump and simultaneously record this thread in my "view your posts" search function, for ease of searching.

Like Milograd, I was unaware of this thread's existence to replace the old hub. I am usually available on esper.net IRC (#NSMentors) as "Yohannes" or "Yohannes_NationStates".

I also regularly check the account of Yohannes' telegram inbox. As a II Roleplay Mentor, I am willing to answer anyone's questions who wishes to ask me something, specifically in regard to the Global Economics & Trade forum, economics in the roleplaying realms of NationStates, international trade in the roleplaying realms of NationStates, the consequences of economics in power politics throughout the roleplaying realms of NationStates, and last but not least, storefronts.
