We are a non-profit organisation providing shelter for women and children in their time of need.
We have built 4 houses sitting together on one acre in a small town in regional Queensland where women and their families can come and stay when they need to seek refuge.
The women and families who use this shelter can come from anywhere. We are within one hours drive from a major regional airport and we will assist with the cost of flights for any person in need.
Why do we do this? The cycle of violence and despair is difficult to escape and we want to give those dependent upon us for assistance every chance they can get to start again in a safe and secure location. With the four houses, each consisting of 3 bedrooms, we can accomodate women on their own or whole families in need. The location we have chosen is far removed from their problems and provides peace and quiet in a quietly supportive small community with all amenities including a local police station for support.
We have donated the seeds to this program by gifting part of the ownership of this property to the group and readying the first two houses for occupation. There is no cost to any woman or family staying with us, but we are relying on your support to make this sustainable.
We are relying on volunteers to help run the program and we are providing free accomodation to our volunteers.
Your assistance, however small, will help us to keep this program going.
