Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Moenchengladbach Betting Preview: Leverkusen
Last weekend’s win over Wolfsburg came at a good time for fifth-placed Leverkusen. It was only their second win in their last five Bundesliga games and it ensured they didn’t fall any further away in the race to be runners-up to Bayern Munich.
However, Leverkusen’s form at home leaves a lot to be desired. They have won just four of their last ten games at the BayArena, suffering successive defeats to Hertha and Schalke in their last two games at home. That last home defeat will have been particularly hard to take with Schalke now two points clear of them in second place.
Sven Bender might have recovered in time to play this match having suffered a back injury last week while Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj is a doubt having picked up a thigh injury in the week. Charles Aranguiz has almost recovered from a knee injury which has kept him out for a month but this game might have come too soon for him.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Moenchengladbach Betting Preview: Gladbach
Gladbach have definitely fallen by the wayside of late. The eighth-placed side have won just once in their last six games in the Bundesliga and are in danger of completely losing touch with the European places. Away from home their form is much the same, with the win over Hannover at the end of February breaking a run of five straight defeats on the road.
Goals certainly seem to have come at a premium of late for Gladbach. While they did score twice in their last game, prior to that game they had scored just one goal in five Bundesliga games. Away from home Gladbach have scored just twice in six Bundesliga games. That being said – it’s not like Gladbach are conceding many either; in their last ten Bundesliga games they’ve conceded just 11 goals.
The treatment room at Borussia Park has been somewhat full of late but there is good news on that front too. Mamadou Doucoure, Fabian Johnson and Reece Oxford are all back in training after injury while long term injury victims Tobias Strobl and Laszlo Benes are both close to a return to action.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Moenchengladbach Betting Preview: Early Odds
Leverkusen start as early favourites for this fixture, with odds against them winning trading at around 1.72. The draw is available at around 3.94 while Gladbach are priced at about 4.43. The Asian handicap line is almost dead level at -0.75/0.75; in the reverse fixture this season Bayer won by 5-1 so there is a potential for value.
For punters looking at the total goals market, the line is at about 3. Over 2.5 goals is at a very skinny 1.56 while over 3.5 goals is at a more generous 2.36. However, over 2.5 goals would have only won in five of the last ten Leverkusen Bundesliga games and in three of the last ten Gladbach league games so unders might be the way to go.
