LCP: Home Bargains opens a newer, bigger store at Central Square in Maghull

 

London, 2017-Sep-20 — /EPR Retail News/ — The Mayor of Maghull, Councillor June Burns, has officially opened the newer, bigger Home Bargains store in the town’s Central Square.

The leading nationwide discount store has almost doubled its space, opening a 10,000 sq ft unit and agreeing a new 15-year lease.

Matt Pegg, asset manager for national commercial property and investment company LCP, which manages the shopping centre on behalf of owner Grainrent, said: “We’re very pleased to have a strong anchor tenant as Home Bargains taking extra space and committing to staying at Central Square.

“As part of our programme of investment, we’ve earmarked about £1 million on improvements at Maghull, which includes creating 15 new retail units and reconfiguring some of the existing space to improve the retail offer for local people.”

LCP is also planning to improve landscaping works and the public space, along with works to increase car parking spaces from 75 to 97 and improve traffic circulation.

The previous unit occupied by Home Bargains previous is now being refurbished by Anytime Fitness, which plans to open a gym by the end of 2017.

Joe Morris, operations director at Home Bargains, said: “The store opening was a great success and we’d like to thank the residents of Maghull for their warm welcome. We’re thrilled by the response we’ve already seen from shoppers and are looking forward to seeing even more new customers come through the doors. We’d also like to thank all staff members for ensuring the launch day ran as smoothly as possible.”

The new store offers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.

Central Square, Maghull, is a 58,000 sq ft retail development in Maghull town centre, just eight miles outside Liverpool. It comprises 40 units and occupiers include Costa Coffee, Boots, Thomson, Superdrug, 02, Thomas Cook, HSBC, B&M Bargains, and Dominos.
