Rate this book
Abigail Grant has a secret . . . and a plan to keep her younger sister from suffering the same fate. Her strategy would have worked if she hadn’t been seduced by sweet-talking musician Luke Omega. Suddenly she’s plucked from the life she wanted to escape, but her new circumstances only expose her to a different danger—or is it her salvation?
Luke has a secret, too. He believes he can change his destiny through willpower—and a little blue pill. When he inadvertently gets mixed up in the Grant sisters’ troubles and his pack alpha orders him to marry Abigail, his family insists he tell her he’s a werewolf. But Luke claims Abigail is not his life mate. She doesn’t need to know what happens to him on the full moon.
Until he accidentally stumbles across her secret. Then all bets are off.

MJ can't remember a time when she wasn't creating her own stories and considers every life experience fodder for her fiction.

Although her 30-year career in local television included such highlights as being bitten by a lion, preempting a US President for a college basketball game, giving a three-time world champion boxer a few black eyes, a mention in the Drudge Report, and meeting her husband, the urge to create her own stories never went away.

MJ lives in upstate New York with her husband. Music and cooking are two of her passions, and she enjoys baseball and college basketball, but she’s primarily focused on wine ... and writing.

Great Who Done It!

A reality that we live with everyday...Child abuse and exploitation, to see it the Paranormal community is a first for me, although the abused are human, it still dealt with in the werewolf community where it is a very big deal. I also loved the fact that Abby didn't accept the reality and fact that werewolves exist as easily as in other books. She also did not accept so easily the fact of being with one. Luke is a very immature wolf that does not want to accept the fact that he could have mated with a human, so strong is his immaturity and knowledge of matings that he doesn't even know that he marked her. The wolves of Loup Garou are a very ignorant group of wolves in that they are not aware of the modern ways of wolf life, they still hold on to the old ways of hierarchy and this had greatly contributed to Lukes ignorance.

I was very frustrated with Luke a lot and very pissed off at Libby's attitude most of the time, but then she was a victim non the less. I felt like they were real people and not characters in a book. LoL

I really enjoyed the mystery, intrigue and who done it in this story, kept me on edge and trying to figure out who the bad guy is.

MJ Compton gives us another riveting story of Toke Lobo and the Pack. Luke Omega thinks he's indestructible. With a huge chip on his shoulder the size of Mount Rushmore over his family losing their status as Pack Omega when his grandfather mated with a human, Luke wants that right back.

Abigail Grant entered a talent show at the annual picnic for the Moonsinger Brewery families. She hoped to get noticed by the lead singer of Toke Lobo and escape the life she'd been living. What she didn't expect was to get noticed by Luke.

The ensuing drama, mystery and danger snare the reader. You are kept guessing at every turn. There was no way I could have guessed the enemy until the revelation. Having Abby's younger sister in harms way as well, but making you want to be mad at her, only added to the tension between Luke and Abby.

MJ brings you strong characters with deep emotions that will have you cheering for them. Her take on the wolf-shifter mating dynamics is different from the norm and more appealing to this reader's heart. Do you want to see original shifter stories? MJ Compton has them.

Great characters, great story line with lots of twists and turns, MJ Compton delivers. I highly recommend readers to follow this author.

Luke Omega is a half breed werewolf looking for the sexual satisfaction that is only provided by a fated mate. He spies Abby and her sister Libby at a picnic and sets his sights on seducing Abby with the help of a little blue pill. Successful in his quest, he then proceeds to act like an asshat and ignores Abby until she appears on his doorstep, badly beaten by her stepfather. Thus begins Luke's long road to growing up and his involvement with the battered and abused Abby and her disfunctional sister.
Author MJ Compton does not browbeat us with graphic details of the depraved world of child pornography and manages to suggest the horror in a way that is no less revolting. In the process she writes a love story that has redemption and rebirth as recurring themes. I enjoyed the story, but didn't really feel connected to Abby and Luke or the members of their pack. Love blooms eventually between them, but it seems kind of sterile, with plenty of passion but no romance.
I have so many books queued up that I feel no compulsion to read the first two books in the series. I recommend it with reservations.

Abigail Grant had a plan to keep her sister from suffering the same fate as her which would have worked until she plucked from the life she wanted to escape into circumstances that may be dangerous or that may be her salvation in this rockin’ paranormal romance. You know the author does a great job, when the characters come to life and the readers become so caught up in their lives that they just wants to reach over and knock some sense into the characters’ heads, which is exactly what happened (several times) as I read Luke and Abby’s story along with causing a few chuckles and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I received this book as an exchange of an honest review through #30DayReadingIndie.
A very well written and developed story.
It's impossible not to like Abby and want things to get better in her life, and when Luke comes, it seems that things can get better for her and her sister, Libby. But it's not so easy, things get very bad before they can work out for both. Knowing all that they went through their stepfather's hands, Gary, was horrible. But all the Pack help in everything possible. Luke irritated me sometimes with his lack of maturity, but in the end he managed to redeem himself.
I loved the story and the characters.

ok so.... well bad on me for not realizing that this was part of a series. Usually I check that out, but my bad. Except for the previous story parts, this was a good book and I did enjoy it, though I sometimes wanted to slap the crap out of him.
