Insane photo shows firefighter wearing helmet covered in solid ice

Meteorologists are warning the East Coast will be struck by a powerful "bomb cyclone" on Wednesday night -- but that doesn't mean the region hasn't already experienced a fair share of brutal weather.

A photo taken on Jan. 1 after a house fire in Nahant, Massachusetts, is a testament to just how severe this winter has been so far.

The viral image shows firefighter Bobby Lehman sporting a protective helmet that is completely covered in ice after he helped battle a stubborn, wind-driven blaze at 238 Wilson Road, according to ABC News.

In the photo, Lehman's gear is so caked in ice that it is almost impossible to make out his engine or ladder number.

Lehman was just one of the many heroic firefighters who spent over three hours trying to put out the three-alarm fire amid frigid temperatures and vicious winds.

Firefighters from seven towns responded to the call to help the small Nahant Fire Department fight the blaze, according to Item Live.
