As per the saga ongoing in another thread, mentioning pre-released pens is now allowed until Montblanc does themselves. I trust this week in particular will see a lot of members having troubles keeping a secret, but let's see how strong willed we can be ;)

~ While waiting for official announcements and photographs pens already released provide pleasure.

Using what one has is often more satisfying than imagining what's to come.

The 2017 pens have a high standard to reach, given pens already released.

IWC, the watch maker part of the same group of companies Montblanc belongs to, have made several tribute pieces to this guy, who ever he is.

Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger, Comte de Saint-Exupéry was a French writer, poet, aristocrat, journalist, and pioneering aviator. He became a laureate of several of France's highest literary awards and also won the U.S. National Book Award.

Are you guys joking about not knowing the guy?

I was wondering the same thing. I read The Little Prince in 9th grade French class. I am sure it was introduced in English sometime in elementary but I must have missed it.

Yeah..! It's the Little freakin Prince! Read it in high school, also. My whole family is into that book, even my sister who only reads Chinese books. She might've even read a Chinese translation.

Really yes. The only way I've heard of him is through wondering why IWC keep spoiling the look of their watches with the references to him.

Let's see if Montblanc can do something pleasing.

~ What sort of design motif for Saint-Exupéry?

Aviation?

Aircraft wings? Propeller?

A prince's coronet?

I believe there is an event coming where MB will be showcasing their upcoming collection. Maybe one of us can let the rest of us know. I heard that the writers edition comes out in August.

I have been invited to such an event, but unaware if I'm allowed to discuss as per FPN rules - I'm still confused.....

All three.

I am eagerly looking forward to a very pretty pen.

The Little Prince is Saint-Exupery's masterpiece. And a very worthwhile read. Perhaps Montblanc will let themselves be inspired by the illustrations that the author created for his short novel.

I've been told that that pen will have a cap that looks like a hat. And when you take the cap off the pen will look like an elephant!

Too fancy I say. I truly believe the pen will look like a baobab.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
