Cops identify Lloyd Street stabber

30-year-old victim remains in critical condition

Greater Sudbury Police have identified a suspect involved in an incident on Lloyd Street on May 24.

On Wednesday, May 24 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Greater Sudbury Police arrived on scene of an altercation that had recently taken place between two men on Lloyd Street. 

As a result of the altercation, a 30-year old man from Greater Sudbury sustained stab wounds to his neck and shoulder. 

He was transported to hospital by EMS where he remains in stable condition.

Prior to police arriving at the scene, the 27-year old suspect fled the scene on foot. 

As a result of the information gathered through the ongoing investigation, Greater Sudbury Police have obtained an arrest warrant for 27-year-old, Andrew McNichol of no fixed address. 

He is wanted for aggravated assault and dangerous weapons under the Criminal Code of Canada. 

McNichol is described as being approximately 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and a shaved head. 

He often frequents the downtown core of Greater Sudbury.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Andrew McNichol is asked to contact Police immediately and to not approach him.
