Laneige - Serum Intense Lipstick Review in Sheer Beige

Happy day! I had been searching for this lipstick line by Laneige for years and finally during one of my shopping trips to Pacific Mall, I was able to find it! Not sure why this particular line isn't as popular. Sephora has the two toned lipsticks available, but they don't actually appeal to me. Mainly because they don't look too good on me.

The lipsticks are available at Laneige/Amore Pacific stores (certain ones. I found this at Market Village right beside Pacific Mall. The actual PMall location only has the two toned lipsticks IOPE). Or Sephora Singapore, which doesn't help me either.

The colour payoff is exactly as they advertise - intense!

Taken from the Laneige website:
Highly moisturizing lipstick with extraordinary colour payoff, as if the lips were covered in serum [...] LED lipstick gives the lips a clean and transparent sheen as if they were under a strobe light.

Packaging

While I like how the packaging looks, it actually feels quite cheap. It's made of all plastic and it's really light. Considering the price ($29 CAD), I was expecting a little more.

Luckily, the packaging isn't too finger print prone. The material they use is reflective, but the mirror image is too stretched to try and rely on using it as a proper mirror.

Product

The colour payoff for this is amazing. As I've been into nudes, I purchased SYR33 Sheer Beige. But let me tell you, it is anything BUT sheer! From my swatch above, that's just one swipe! A little really goes a long way. The lipstick is also quite soft so I find I have to dab the product onto my lips. My natural lip shade is actually a little darker, so the colour is lighter on me that I had hoped.

It is also quite moisturzing. It's not as moisturizing as a lip balm, but it does do a pretty decent job. The lipstick also feels super comfortable as well as if I'm not wearing anything at all. It does offer a nice satin/slight glossy finish, but not 'strobe light' sheen as they claim.

While I love the lipstick, there are a few things I don't like about it. Since the product is soft and almost melts onto the lips, it really accentuates any dry skin you may have. So I definitely recommend exfoliating your lips before applying the lipstick.

Now longevity wise, there is none. It wears as long as any typical lipstick. Have to reapply after eating or drinking. I don't mind this though as it never claimed to be long wearing and I need to try to wear more lipstick, so it's a win win! But I did find that after a couple hours, the product dried out a bit and flaked off. Even though it dried out, my lips didn't feel dry because of it.

The shade is slightly too light for me, which is why I dab it on to make it more sheer. I'll probably wear this more during the fall/winter as my skin is less tan. It'll probably be far too light for me to wear during the summer.

Overall Thoughts

The lipstick feels really comfortable on the lips and glides on like a dream. Since I can't wear this shade all year round, I'll probably pick up another one I can wear during the summer. I have my eye on YR24 Twinkle Coral. Oh, also worth a mention, the lipstick is unscented, which is what I like!

If you're looking for something light weight, moisturizing and pigmented, this is definitely worth trying. I've always preferred lipsticks that give off a nice sheen vs matte lipsticks, so this is perfect for me.

I purchased this at the Amore Pacific store for $29 CAD + taxes. Sephora Singapore sells them (lucky!) and a few other online retailers.

Have you tried the Serum Intense Lipsticks before? How do you like them?

  • Light-weight and very comfortable on the lips
  • No scent
  • Easy application
The Bad
  • Cheap packaging for the price
  • Keep in cool place because product is very soft
  • Product flakes off after a while of wear

  1. Love your detailed review of these lipsticks! The swatches and the photography are great. I was already lusting after Laneige's lip masks but now it looks like I'll have to add their lipsticks to my list, too...#byebyewallet
