Rugby #3

The Cad and the Co-Ed

Rate this book
Keeping a secret this big is going to take lots of balls. Specifically, rugby balls.

THE CAD
Bryan Leech is a cad.
Or, he *was* a cad.
No one is quite certain.

Once the quintessential playboy, Bryan claims he’s done with wild parties and weekend benders. No more one night stands leading to mornings he can’t remember; no more binges and blackouts; no more exploits plastered all over the tabloids and rag sheets. According to Bryan, he’s cleaning up his act.

The only problem is, no one believes him.

THE CO-ED
Eilish Cassidy never thought she’d be a mother at nineteen or still in college at twenty-four. Cut off from every member of her family except her favorite cousin, she’s finally managed to put her life back together. Stronger and wiser, Eilish enters her last semester of university determined to stand on her own. Now she just needs to find an internship.

The only problem is, her best option—by far—places her directly in the path of her son’s father, and he doesn’t remember her at all.

THE PLAN
Bryan is determined to prove he’s changed. Eager to settle down with the right woman, he’s got his sights set on the gorgeous redhead who seems terribly familiar.

Eilish is determined to hide her secret. She’ll do anything to keep her child safe, even if that means ignoring her own wishes and desires.

But what happens when Bryan starts to remember? And what will it take for Bryan to convince the girl he forgot that she’s unforgettable?

A reformed bad boy? YES, PUHLEAZ! Throw in a self-sufficient, strong heroine, and you had me at Once Upon A Time!
❝Maybe Bryan had a magic penis. And how lucky was I? Finding a bloke with an enchanted penis for my first time. Maybe he had a purse around here someplace with endless money, or a goose that shit golden eggs. I wouldn't be surprised if he did .❞

One night. One night was all it took for Bryan Leech, alcoholic, self-absorbed, inconsiderate ass, to turn Eilish Cassidy's life upside down. What could have been the start of something incredible, turned out to be a painful, forgettable night.
❝He smelled like my dreams. And he felt too good to be true. He is too good to be true. And you're forgettable.❞

Eilish was a strong woman, a single mom to her bright, adorable son, Patrick. She was smart, she worked hard, and with the help of her cousin, Sean, she survived. She went to school, got a degree and is the new physiotherapist for her cousin's rugby team. The same team for which Bryan Leech plays.

It's been a few years since Bryan has had a drink. He has changed. Once a party animal, now a homebody, he prefers tea to beer and reading about birds to parties. He has settled down. Bryan was learning to adjust to his new life and I appreciated his struggle. He was incredibly compassionate and devoted.

At a party for a teammate, he sees Eilish for what he thinks is the first time, and though he can't make sense of it, he feels an instant connection with her. He is the last person she wants to see. He broke her heart once, she will not let it happen again. And how will she tell him about her son? What will his reaction be?

I was happy to read about some of the cast from the previous books. The way they gave Bryan trouble, lent to the hilarious moments in the book. And while the relationship between Sean and his cousin Eilish was endearing, the way Sean was with Patrick, melted my heart.

The Cad and the Co-Ed is my favorite in the Rugby series, by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid. It was heart-warming, it was funny and it was sexy. If you love to laugh, if you love witty banter and sexy goodness, then pick up this gem. It can be read as a stand-alone, even though it is the 3rd book in the series.

4.5 Stars!!

Once again, Penny Reid and L.H. Cosway co-wrote a book that simply warmed my heart. If you’re a fan of these two authors and if you enjoyed the two previous installments in the series as much as I did, then you don’t want to miss this one. Trust me! This book is wonderful! This third installment is everything. A fantastic mix of humor, romance, but also heat, 'The Cad and the Co-ed', made me smile and grin the entire time. These two authors did a brilliant job with every single aspect of this story, managing to deliver a delightful tale that will keep you entertained for a good couple of hours.

“Any straight woman with a pulse would feel lust for Bryan Leech. I’d been ogling the man. (…) I’d felt like an addict, devouring him with my eyes, promising myself that each glance would be the last . . .”

Nineteen years old, Eilish Cassidy has just had the best night of her life. Bryan Leech, a guy she has had a crush on for years finally showed interest in her and they ended up spending the night together. When, the next morning, Bryan, who’s an alcoholic, doesn’t remember her or their night of passion, acts like a douche, Eilish feels very humiliated. Her life changes irrevocably several months later when she finds out she’s pregnant. She decides to keep the baby, despite the fact that her family had turned their backs on her and decides not to tell Bryan that he’s the father.

“… when he laughed, he was devastating—free and open and alive—he made me feel alive in a way I hadn’t experienced since . . . since . . .That night.”

Five years later, Eilish is about to start her new job as a physical therapist for her cousin’s Rugby team, but she’s not really looking forward to it since she will have to see Bryan for the first time in so many years. Bryan is a changed man. He’s not an alcoholic anymore, hates parties and prefers to spend his nights alone in his apartment.

“I wanted her. I had no business wanting her. No, strike that, I wouldn’t allow myself to want her.”

Bryan feels drawn to Eilish from the moment he lays his eyes on her. He doesn’t only want her in his bed… he also wants to get to know her. Something about her feels very familiar, he feels a strong connection with her. Eilish wants to stay away from Bryan, not only to protect her heart, but also to protect her little boy, Patrick. Needless to say, she’s determined to hide her secret.

I loved this one! Everything was perfectly balanced and I found the story-line to be so engaging and sweet. I loved the humor, I loved the heat and I absolutely loved the romance. 'The Cad and the Co-ed' was really a heart-warming read with two endearing main characters that I simply loved.

“I’m attracted to you on every level. I want you, Eilish. I want you with every breath I take.”

The two authors did a wonderful job with Bryan’s character. I really felt how remorseful he was regarding the night he spent with Eilish five years ago. This reformed bad boy won me over from the moment he was introduced. He was sweet, funny, sexy and I absolutely loved the way he was with Eilish and Patrick. The way he tried to prove to Eilish that he’s a changed man and that he loves her and that he also loves his son was sweet and entertaining. There were so many heart-warming scenes with these three characters together. Loved them! Patrick was such a sweet character. Cute as a button, he was so adorable at times.

I liked Eilish's character from the start. Not only she is a strong woman, but her love and dedication towards her son are really endearing. She is sweet, caring, suborn and so determined to be self-sufficient, sassy and, overall, a fun heroine I sympathize with. I enjoyed how Eilish and Bryan’s relationship progressed, their witty interactions and, of course, their romance. I loved these two together and I enjoyed all their sweet and sexy, sensual scenes. As for their connection – oh, my gosh – so great and palpable.

"We’ve been through a lot together. So, we should kiss each other until it’s all better."

I loved seeing Sean and Ronan, the two male main characters from the two previous books in the series. Sean was simply amazing in this installment. I loved his support and loyalty towards Eilish. He was really great, not only with Eilish, but with Patrick as well. I also liked the fact that he figured out immediately that Bryan is a changed man and accepted that he’s the perfect man for his cousin.

Overall, this was a wonderful addition to the series and I’m looking forward to more collaborations from these two authors.

Penny Reid and LH Cosway have this special talent when it comes to co-writing. Their words flow so fantastically and their stories are always unique and wonderful. The Cad and the Co-Ed is the third book in this series and has a troupe that is one of my least favorite things to read about it. Usually, this type of book bothers me so much I spend my whole review ranting about something or another, but somehow, these authors made both the characters lovable and the story worked. It didn’t annoy me at all so that’s a huge WIN!

Eilish Cassidy is Sean Cassidy’s (gah! Sean!) nineteen year old cousin. Sean and Eilish are more like brother and sister than cousins. Eilish loves Rugby and especially has it bad for one of Sean’s teammates. Bryan Leech. Bryan and Eilish meet at a wedding and Eilish has the time of her life. It feels like all her dreams are coming true. But in the morning, her heart is shattered. Bryan has no recollection of who she is. He was drunk the night before, like he is most nights…

Fast forward five years later. Bryan has got his act together. He realized his drinking wasn’t healthy and if he kept it up, he would get kicked off the team. So now, he’s sober. Has been for 2 years. The last 5 years he’s changed. For Eilish, the last 5 years have been nothing like she expected. You see, Eilish left Bryan with more than just a broken heart. She is left with a son. When Eilish and Bryan’s paths cross again, Eilish is conflicted about what to do. Bryan doesn’t remember her. Doesn’t know about his son…. See, this here is normally where I would rant because

As Eilish starts working at her new job with the Rugby team, she’s forced to be around Bryan more. Even though Bryan doesn’t know who she is, you can feel the pull she has to him. I love that they have that connection. I really liked both of the characters. Eilish was strong and self sufficient. I admired her for that. She could be a bit stubborn at times, but she always put her son first and did what she thought was best for him. Bryan used to be a drunk and the bad boy of rugby. I love that he turned it all around. I also loved how he reacted when he found out about Eilish and Patrick- how he made her feel completely unforgettable.

The Cad and the Co-Ed is one of those books I didn’t want to put down. I spent my entire day reading. Reid and Cosway did a fantastic job once again. Though The Player and the Pixie will forever be my favorite, I enjoyed this story lots! Full of family, humor, love and second chances, this one hit the spot!

Sadly, I have had somewhat less enthusiastic, mediocre feeling about the last couple books in this series. Not sure what the deal is, but it's bumming me out, not gonna lie LOL.

OMG!!! This is my FIRST READ in this series and I couldn't have enjoyed it more! THE CAD AND THE CO-ED was so SWOON-WORTHY and it deserves more stars than I could ever dish out! I'm a goner for these characters, for this writing duo, and for this series! EVERYTHING about this book, from the book cover to the blurb, from the beginning to the end, from the characters to the witty, hilarious, and flirtatious banter they produced...EVERYTHING about this book made me INCREDIBLY HAPPY! I laughed. I cried. I SWOONED so freaking hard! Bryan and Eilish took my heart and just RAN WITH IT!

I was SO caught up in this story that for once, I didn't highlight all the quotes I wanted to share with you! Guys! That like NEVER happens! I usually highlight the crap out of these books, but I just couldn't even spare the second it takes to mark the damn thing! That just shows you how captivated I was with these characters and their emotional storyline.

The MAJOR take-away from this beloved romance is that it was extremely smart and oh so sexy! It has hilarity, romance, and smokin' hot sex scenes! It had an emotional impact on me that I didn't see coming at all. These characters drove me mad, and yet I LOVED the hell outta them. THE CAD AND THE CO-ED was a wonderfully done romance about second chances. It incorporated TONS of laughs, an insane amount of lovin', and so much heart that it will leave you grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't look away once I started and I just know that every romance reader will be able to take away something special from Bryan and Eilish's story.

Needless to say, L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid has gained yet another HUGE FAN with the release of this book! I can't wait to see what these two come up with next!

Just for a moment. I breathed him in and he smelled…fantastic. Familiar. He smelled like my dreams. And he felt too good to be true.

THE CAD AND THE CO-ED is the third standalone installment of the Rugby series and it was just as amazing as the first two books! The writing collaboration between Cosway & Reid is beyond stellar!! I just can’t get enough of this wonderful series and incredible characters!!

Nineteen-year-old, Eilish Cassidy has just had the night of her life with a man who has been the star of her fantasies for quite some time. Bryan Leech is a professional Rugby player and is her cousin Sean’s teammate. The two met at a wedding and there was an instant physical attraction which led to a night of amazing sex, but when the sun rises the next morning it seems to Eilish’s total dismay, that Bryan completely forgot their night together since he was beyond drunk. He was anything but pleasant to her the next morning which shatters poor Eilish’s heart.

The story fast forwards to five years later and Eilish is about to start her new job as a physical therapist for her cousin’s Rugby team. Her life had been drastically changed by that one night of hot sweaty passion with Bryan. She ended up getting pregnant and was disowned by her mother when she refused to give her son up for adoption. Eilish tried to make it on her own but ended up getting help from her cousin when things got pretty dire. Sean was such an amazing secondary character. His devotion to his cousin and her little son was beyond endearing.

Eilish is quite nervous about starting her new job because she knows that she will come face to face with Bryan again and the five years that have passed have done nothing to ease her broken heart. When they cross paths again the chemistry between them is undeniable. Bryan is not the same man he was when they had their one night together. Back then he was an alcoholic who had no qualms about sleeping with all the women who threw themselves at him. Bryan was given an ultimatum by his coach to clean up his act or be cut from the team, and that spurs him on to seek treatment. He’s now two years sober and in all that time has steered clear of women and relationships. Now Eilish is awakening feelings in him that laid dormant for so long. She becomes a bit of a challenge for Bryan because she’s not falling for his advances. This is something Bryan is not used to and it only further ignites his interest in her.

Eilish has never been able to get over the fact that Bryan found her totally forgettable. She’s also fearful that he will find out about their son. Even though her cousin tries to convince her that Bryan is a changed man and that she should let him know that he is the father of her child, she holds on to fear that he’ll try to take her son away from her.

When the truth is revealed, will Bryan run the other way due to his fear of commitment or will he step up and be the father he always wished he’d had as a young boy? Will Eilish and Bryan be able to get over the past and their hang-ups and see that happiness is within their grasp?

THE CAD AND THE CO-ED releases on Valentine’s Day!! Make sure you pick this one up! Treat yourself to a Valentine’s Day gift!

4 Doing the Impossible Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Ok, when I read the blurb for this book, I had to take a moment and try to figure out how Cosway and Reid where going to make all of this work. I mean, come on...
You had Bryan Leech...we already knew him as a playboy, wild man and thoughtless jerk.
Then you had Eilish Cassidy, who had a tryst with Bryan, and then never told him he had a son...

How could they make these two wrongs....a right...
Well, I can testify, somehow Cosway and Reid made these circumstances extremely revealing and entertaining.

We meet up with both of these characters as they are adjusting to new chapters their lives.

Bryan has seen the errors of his ways... he was a man who drank, played hard and then started the cycle all over again. He turned the page and for the last 2 years he has been a tea drinker, no booze. His big pleasure is putting IKEA bookshelves together, for god's sake! He has suffered memory loss from blackouts and knows he will never get those moments back.

Eilish has had her own difficult journey. Her venture into sexy times with Bryan brought her a couple of rude awakenings:

The realization the next day he had been drunk the entire time he was saying all those things that meant so much to her...
The belief Bryan Leech in his wild drunken oblivious way of living... he was no father material...
And the reaction her family gave her by cutting her off financially and emotionally when she discovered she was pregnant...

With these things being her driving force, Elish went to the States and attempted to be on her own. She had her son and held 3 jobs while going to college. She was determined to make all of this happen without assistance from family.... but her body had other ideas. She became extremely ill, lost 2 of 3 her jobs and finally accepted a helping hand from her cousin Sean.

With Sean's insistence, Elish allowed him to provide for her financially so she could recover, become healthy, finish her degree in Physio and look after her son. Once her degree was completed, she was to come back home and take on an intern with the team.

While this was not the best situation for Elish, having to see Bryan as the Physio Assistant, it did allow her to have her one family member who loved her close by. Sean was her support system, her son's best pal and ever the confident. With Sean knowing of her situation, this gave Elish the strength to soldier on.

We know of all of this when the meeting we are anticipating...happens.

When Elish and Bryan cross paths, Bryan sees her, feels like there is a familiarity, doesn't know why and it makes him uncertain....
Elish had hoped she wouldn't feel anything for him...After all she had been forgettable the first time... so why should this time be any different...

And this the crux of this tale...

Each of these characters had their individual baggage which colored how they took in all of their exchanges...They had internal dialogues happening ...which guided them to wrong conclusions some of the times... or there were outside sources reminding them of what had happened in their past...

But with all of those factors, we still come out with a love story worthy of Cosway and Reid.

Elish is a strong woman working through her own issues. She holds her own in many situations at work and is raising an adorable son on her own. Her son is a delight and his relationship with her cousin Sean and his obsession with fashion is a continuing thread of humor.

Bryan is a man who has turned the page... he knows the errors of his ways and wants to do good... for himself, for Elish and their son. He becomes an endearing force with his ability to see things the way they were and what Elish needs in order for her to see things as they are now. His heart beats for the idea of his own family, for Elish, and in the end our heart does, too.

This was a welcome addition to the series and I can't wait to see what comes next... Ladies, please keep them coming.

I feel bereft. I always feel bereft after finishing an LH Cosway and/or Penny Reid novel because the magic is temporarily over. The only cure is to re-read their backlist which is exactly what I intend to do. For the millionth time.
The Rugby series is one of my absolute favourites and how I was introduced to these fabulous authors. Every book in this series just gets better and better, along with the heroes. I’m in love with Sean from The Player and the Pixie – he’s one of my favourite book boyfriends – and yet somehow the ladies managed to exceed his yumminess with Bryan from The Cad and the Co-Ed. Just as with Sean, Cosway and Reid cleverly changed my mind about Bryan from beginning to end. I love him. He somehow manages to be the perfect balance of charming, protective, responsible, dangerous, wicked, good boy-bad boy. I don’t know how they did that, but they did! And as always they delivered a heroine – Eilish (I love that name) – who is strong, likeable, flawed, and incredibly endearing. Moreover, I was extremely happy to have so much of Sean in this one. He’s just as hilarious and wonderful as ever.
The Cad and the Co-Ed lives up to the rest of the series and more. When you pick up a Cosway/Reid novel you know you’re going to laugh out loud, need a fan (did I mention this one is particularly good at the melting of one’s underwear?), squirm with giddiness, choke with angsty anger, tear up, and laugh out loud some more.
Witty, vibrant characters with phenomenal chemistry, The Cad and The Co-Ed (the entire Rugby series) is in a class of its own!

Really… LH Cosway and Penny Reid can do no wrong! I think they’re secretly attempting to take over the literary world.
Stealthy book ninjas.

4 stars!

“I was the villain of the piece, and we both know it.”

The Cad and the Coed is the third book in the rugby series by LH Cosway and Penny Reid and can be easily read as a standalone novel. The plot centers around rugby player Bryan, a former womanizer and party boy, he’s since turned his life around and enjoys his new quiet way of living. Eilish is the cousin of Bryan’s teammate Sean and has recently started working for the team.

Bryan is immediately attracted to Eilish, and thinks he may be ready. Eilish seems less thrilled to see Bryan and is always dodging him. What Bryan doesn’t realize is he’s met Eilish before. He just doesn’t remember her.

“If I wasn’t careful, Eilish Cassidy would be elevated to sainthood level in my mind. I decided I should debauch her before this happened.”

Reading this book just made me want to go back and reread this series and rediscover all the characters in this world. I liked that the hero was a reformed man, he wasn’t perfect but he saw what he wanted in life and made the necessary changes to be the man he wanted to be. Eilish was a very endearing heroine who was put in a touch spot and made the most of it, and her life was all the better for it.

I loved seeing Sean and Ronin in this book, it was like seeing old friends again. We got to know Eilish a little book in previous books but I am glad I got to read her as a fully developed character in her own novel. She and Bryan were sensual and sweet, they made a lot of sense together, even though they didn’t always see it that way on their journey to each other.

Cosway and Reid are known for their unique and sometimes odd romances, and while this one was sweet, it was a departure from their distinctive writing styles for me. This book is a great story for readers who enjoy a more established love trope and want a sweet storyline. I look forward to more installments in this series, and more collaborations from these two wonderful authors.

Title: The Cad and the Co-Ed
Series: Rugby #3
Author: Penny Reid & L.H. Cosway
Release date: February 14, 2017
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

Bryan Leech and Eilish Cassidy had one night full of passion. She woke up with stars in her eyes with youth's silly, naive hope for happily ever after. As a teen, she'd developed a crush, placed his posters in her bedroom, and foolishly believed that he now felt their connection. Well...he didn't. He was just a cad. A sexy, charming (when he wanted to be), womanizer who in addition, was an alcoholic. Those stars fell from her eyes and she plummeted down to earth hard. This mess of a man had made a child with her. She was nineteen, her snobby family had turned their backs, and she didn't have a clue what she was going to do.

I’d been naïve, too trusting before. Too honest. Too uninhibited. Too reckless. Too stupid. But I would never make that mistake again. I needed a plan and it needed to be a good one.

Five years later...

Bryan is sober now and trying to move past the mistakes of his past. He truly wants to be a better man, but his reputation precedes him. You can hardly blame everyone for doubting him though. You know those characters that pop up in series that you loathe? The ones that never have anything good to say or do? That would be this guy, but there was never a doubt I would read his book.

If anyone could successfully reform him, it would be these two brilliant authors. Once again, Reid and Cosway have proved themselves to be an unbeatable writing team. Not only did I like Bryan, he's now one of my favorite heroes from them. I LOVED him. Fuuuu- er...FORKS! He was everything. Sweet, sexy, funny, and committed to not only winning Eilish over, but steps up to the plate like a man when finally confronted with his child. He melted my heart, people. MEL-TED.
He was filled with such honest remorse and shame for his own actions, for the consequences of that night that he wished still haunted him.

What would it feel like to be on the receiving end of being forgotten? She didn’t deserve to be forgotten. She deserved to be treasured. And I was going to do everything in my power to make up for what I’d done.

And Patrick into the mix, and you now you've exploded off the charts of adorable. This kid. This man. This family. I can't form full sentences here, remembering what magic they are together. Eilish was strong, hilarious, sassy, and an amazing mother. Bryan was tender, eager to prove himself and take a load off of her shoulders, and hot like you wouldn't believe.

The attraction and energy between them was unbelievably good. He needed to earn her trust, she needed to let go of the past and see the new man waiting patiently for her. It created some delicious tension, and I devoured every scene with them together.

Her eyes flickered back and forth between mine.
Say you want me to stay.
Say you wouldn’t regret it.
Say you never could.

I wouldn't call this particularly oversaturated with angst. They had a lot to work through, but there was a perfect balance of heat, humor, and romance to cut through the conflict. The humor is exactly as good as you're expecting. Witty, charming, and oh so entertaining. The personality quirks of both characters had me laughing and smiling uncontrollably. Like Eilish's love of organization and her hilarious cuss word replacements. And then there was Bryan. He went from party boy to the guy who likes to sit at home in a robe and slippers while grumbling about his neighbors making a racket. He likes quiet, predictability, and comfort. And his teammates don't let him forget about his grandpa ways.

I was entertained, romanced, and thoroughly delighted with this feel-good book. I urge (and I'm not above bossing) everyone to read this. That's right, I'm looking at you.

Bryan Leech and Eilish Cassidy get tangle up in a beautiful, and hot one night stand. When the morning comes, Eilish is certain in her heart that she has found the man of her dreams, and Bryan only wants to shut the curtains, take some pills for his raging headache, and try to sleep off his horrible hangover. When faced with the terrible reality that her Prince Charming was pissed drunk, and hardly remembers what it was the best night of her life, Eilish, completely heart broken flees the scene, and wants nothing more than to forget this man forever. But no matter how hard Eilish tries, this will be one she will never be able to forget.

Years late Bryan Leech is trying to live his life as a recovering alcoholic. With his party days behind him, he has found himself living a lonely and cautious life. Half of his friends and latest girlfriend pushed him aside, and this days Bryan is all about his rugby career and his sobriety. When he meets the team's new physiotherapist, for the first time in a long time Bryan is feeling a very strong attraction towards a woman, and looking at the gorgeous therapist with the red locks he gets a feeling of deja vu.

Eilish has been working hard to get her degree in physiotherapy to provide for her and her son. Love is not something she likes to think about, but when she starts working for her cousin's rugby team and is faced with her painful past, all those strong and dangerous feelings start rushing back into her heart.

Will Bryan and Eilish get a second chance? Will love have a chance, even though they are two totally different people this second time around?

Reading this third book is truly was a treat for us fans of the series. All of our favorite characters from past books are part of this story, adding humor and heart to the already wonderful story.

L.H Cosway and Penny Reid's collaboration is so seamless you kind of forget you are reading. The reader is always front and center in all the action. You will laugh and fall in love with all the amazing characters. The Cad And The Co-Ed is a fabulous new addition to this fan favorite series.

4 Karma is a Wanker Stars

In my heart of hearts, I’d hoped that I’d made some impression.
Silly, right?
Pathetic, right?
Crazy and stupid and selfish, right?
He hadn’t. He hadn’t remembered me at all. I was . . . completely and utterly forgettable.

Damn if Eilish didn't break my heart just a little with her sad memories of her first encounter with Bryan, drunk rugby player and manwhore extraordinaire.

In general, I loved the feels and emotions this book brought on. Eilish's predicament had me tearing up more than once. Even though Bryan had a tough road ahead of him to make up for his past mistakes, I felt like he more than pulled it off and managed to redeem himself completely.

Why not 5 stars? Honestly, the conflict at the 80ish% mark had me more than a little confused.

It seemed to come out of nowhere and I found myself backing up a few pages to make sure I didn't miss anything. Nope, just a little bit of angst thrown in for good measure. I didn't think any of that drama-rama was handled realistically (I still don't really know what to think about that locker room confrontation.)

Overall, I really enjoyed The Cad and the Co-Ed. As with so many things in my life, I've started this series backwards and even though this is my first Rugby read, it in no way detracted from my enjoyment of Bryan and Eilish's story.

Showing bravery and strength when your world falls apart.

I’ll be honest, when I first became a parent I LOST THE PLOT!! Not a little but a whole lotta. There was one thing that got me through…my hubby. I cannot imagine doing it alone and yet I know that there are a lot of women and men who face parenting alone. By choice, or by being forced into the situation you can either step up and attempt to get through or you don’t. In The Cad and the Co-Ed we meet a brave and strong woman who not only attempted to cope but conquered single-parenting.

Eilish was 19 when she found out that she was pregnant and it definitely wasn’t planned. One night of pleasure that ended in humiliation changed her whole world. The father wasn’t in the picture, her stuck-up and snobby mother and siblings disowned her and what friends she did have didn’t stick around. There was one person who had her back, her cousin Sean.

Stubborn and determined to be self-sufficient, Eilish packs her bags and uses her savings to move to America. Studying and working 3 jobs to support herself and Patrick, her son, she struggles through the best she can. Eilish is not invincible and ends up getting a wee bit sick. Sean is a rugby player who earns plenty of money and could easily support Eilish and Patrick. It’s not until she’s nearly dying that she calls him for help. Sean decides to only lend her the money if she promises to come home to Ireland when she finishes her studies.

The only problem for Eilish is, moving back home means facing the father of her son who is one of Sean’s teammates.

Bryan was a douchewaffle and he freely admits it. As a recovering alcoholic and sleazy party boy, Bryan has been sober for nearly two years. It will never be easy but by sticking to a fairly boring and predictable life, he manages his addiction. His biggest regret for the wasted years is the memory lapses when he was under the influence.

With his life back on track, Bryan is finally ready to start thinking about dating again. When a striking redhead catches his eye, he can’t help but think it was perfect timing. The only problem is, this woman is completely indifferent to him which, to be honest, is very shocking. With his curiosity aroused, Bryan is determined to find out her story. Luckily, his teammate happens to be her cousin…

I really enjoyed The Cad and the Co-Ed. It’s one of those stories where you get to see the best and worst of the characters. Both Bryan and Eilish struggle with guilt and the repercussions of their choices. Seeing these struggles, you can’t help but sympathise and understand how and why they chose to make these decisions. It was not easy for them to look past their pasts and see a future together. The one thing they both wanted and I admired them for, is their dedication to their son. Patrick’s needs were a priority for them both.

I liked Bryan…well the new and improved Bryan, and Eilish as well. Their connection was believable and the chemistry jumped off the pages.

It was great to catch up with the gang and see Sean as the sweet and quirky man we came to love at the end of The Player and the Pixie. I loved that Sean had a close relation with Patrick and bought him custom-made suits to wear.

I liked Bryan’s sponsor, Sarah (even when she interfered a little too much) and his roommate William, The Brickhouse, Moore. I’m hoping we might even get a story for William…I think he’s got a secret.

I read The Cad and the Co-Ed in one day and enjoyed every minute of it. I laughed, cried, smirked and snorted. This sports romance was an entertaining addition to the series and I’m really hoping for more in the future.

5 "KARMA IS A WANKER" STARS

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

I’d never forget that look.
I’d never forget seeing her like this.
I’d never forget another moment with her for the rest of my life.

Young Eilish wakes up all googly eyed after the best night of her life in which she gave her virginity to rugby player and heart throb Bryan Leech. And the first words that come out of his mouth?

"Do me a favor, love, and close the curtains. I've got a splitting headache."

This is not how she expected to be greeted. When the guy doesn't remember her in the morning she is utterly humiliated. Tail between legs she flees the scene. That night, which admittedly was amazing, has severe consequences and turns her life upside down. It includes an adorable boy who looks exactly like his father, leaving the country and getting an education. Five years later she returns home and lands a job as a physio intern for the rugby team and she is determined to give a particular player a wide berth.

Bryan is a recovering alcoholic. After his coach found him on the floor passed out he issues an ultimatum: Either Bryan gets his sh*t together or he will be kicked out of the team. He has changed since then. He prefers tea to beer, wears PJs, a housecoat and fur-lined slippers. Some may call him boring these days but he needs the routine.
Parties are detrimental for an alcoholic so Bryan doesn't really enjoy them as he used to. On his roommates birthday party he claps eyes on a beautiful redhead and damn but that hair color is his kryptonite. He knows he isn't ready to date yet but she bedazzles him with her intelligence, aloofness and beauty.

It was part of my recovery. I needed to learn to look after other things than just myself. So far, I had failed. But now, for some inexplicable reason, I was more determined to succeed than ever. An image of blue eyes and red hair flashed in my mind.

What we get with this book is a wildly entertaining story with detailed and developed characters who act in a way you can relate to. Eilish is a strong and independent woman with a backbone to boot. Her deep love and devotion to her son are incredibly sweet to watch. Eilish is stubborn and a little bit stuck in the past. When she meets Bryan again, she is wary of him and still reeling from the fact that he doesn't remember her but she does see the change he has gone through. He is a different man but can she trust him? With her son? Her heart? The truth?

Bryan's change from party animal and alcoholic to a responsible adult is so well done. He deals with the new truths and realities in his life amazingly well and while they sometimes feel a little bit like setbacks they only help him to steel his resolve and move forward.

If I wasn’t careful, Eilish Cassidy would be elevated to sainthood level in my mind. I decided I should debauch her before this happened.

I loved how he was with Eilish, how he adored her and didn't hide it. When Bryan has made up his mind to make her his (well there wasn't a choice really) he does so with purpose. And can I say how swoonworthy he is? The way he is with his son is so freaking adorable, all that came out of my mouth were different chants of "aaawwwww".

I think this is a book that everyone would enjoy. It isn't dark, it has a teeny bit angst which helped to make this an engaging read. It's also surprisingly hot and has a lot of humor and lovely prose. These two authors are a match made in heaven. They click so well that you have no idea who is writing which chapter. I'm definitely going back to read the previous books in this series.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, still touching me, shifting his weight from one foot to the next.
“What for?” The question was out before I could catch it.
“For so many things. For not asking you out at Will’s party months ago, because I wanted to. For not kissing you back, because I really wanted to. But mostly,” he paused for a moment, his thumb sweeping along my jaw, “Mostly for ever making you think you are anything other than magnificent and unforgettable.”

It's live & on Blog Tour!!

This book had the perfect combination of romance and humor. Pretty much what I've come to expect when L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid decide to co-write a story together. And the heat?

There was definitely more than a spark. It was explosive. Scorching. Extremely hot. Full-on combustion!

You get my drift.

Five years ago, Bryan and Eilish met, which was a dream come true. At least for Eilish. What made it even sweeter was that Bryan seemed to be into her. Their mutual attraction turned into a night of passion. A passion that dissolved along with the morning light because Bryan couldn't even remember who she was. The problem? Bryan was tanked and the man Eilish was falling for the night before didn't really exist.

Now Bryan is 18 months sober. And he's a changed man. And Eilish is the new physiotherapist for the team. And he still doesn't remember her. And she has to find a way to tell him about the night they shared so that she can move on. and amidst all of that her cousin Sean brought the hilarity. And... And... And read the book!!

With this third book of the Rugby series, these authors tackled a trope that I'm not particularly fond of. Yet somehow they handled it with care and made it somewhat palatable to me. That's not to say that they convinced me to accept, support or condone the behavior found in this story, but at least I didn't read this with a frown on my face. They made the characters lovable, they made me laugh, and I couldn't ask for more than that.

Another great collaboration and amazing series. Although the blurb may sound familiar, it's refreshing and a lot more than you might think.

About the plot: It was a one night at Ronan and Annie (first part) wedding. Bryan seduced her and broke her heart, not even remembering her name the other day. That night Eilish not only lost her innocence but got pregnant. Terrified she decided to flee the country, but after 5 years, difficulties forced her to accept her cousin, Sean (second part) help and returned to Ireland with her son Patrick.

Now, she accepted an internship as a physiotherapist in the rugby team, where the father of her son plays, the son about whom he has no idea. Moreover, he doesn't even remember her.

“When threatened with enchanted orgasms by a cad, the best thing to do is lie.”

Final thoughts: Make no mistake. This is a standalone with simply amazing heroes of the previous parts and hopefully the future ones. It quickly draw you into the story and you will have funny and touching times with their heroes.

“She didn’t deserve to be forgotten. She deserved to be treasured. And I was going to do everything in my power to make up for what I’d done.”

Bryan Leech isn't only a reformed manwhore. His problems were much more serious and now he needs to clean his act. Eilish Cassidy is a single mother and a strong woman who doesn't believe in yourself much. But she is awesome heroine and I loved her inner dialogues. Especially those in CAPITAL LETTERS.

“She soothed something inside me and at the same time made me savage.”

The characters are complex and great developed. Their chemistry is off the charts and it gives you a lot sexual tension and even better hot scenes! Whew! You will need to invest in a big mirror in the bedroom after that!

Reading this book simply was good fun. It has lot of funny dialogues. It's also touching and heart-warming scenes. Of course, those related to Patrick and his newly met dad will make you smile with tears of emotion.

The Cad and the Co-Ed is a hilarious and sexy second chance romance. This might be my favorite part, but honestly I loved each of the stories and want more and more. I hope that you, too.

Yup. It hit me. Right. In. The. Feels. More than I was expecting.

Honestly I was nervous. I hadn't even read the synopsis before starting this, so when I discovered it was a second chance romance (something I'm a picky bitch about), I was a little worried. And while there were a few things I didn't love, overall I really enjoyed this one!

Bryan and Eilish meet and have a ONS; she was a virgin, meanwhile he was so drunk he doesn't even remember her the next morning (she didn't know he was completely wasted though). She leaves and he carries on with his life. But Eilishs life is changed forever when she discovers she's pregnant. She makes the decision not to tell him, convinced that the drunken, party boy would have no interest in a child. Flash forward five years. He's eighteen months sober and she's just been hired to work in close proximity to Bryan. Since he's cleaned up his act, there's no longer a reason for him to be in the dark, and with his relentless pursuit of her, it becomes harder to keep the secret.

*I'm going to address the safety here. He was not celibate during the five year separation, and I don't think it was ever explicitly mentioned whether Eilish was, but I was under the impression she was celibate. There was reference to a few dates, but I don't think anything beyond that. However when Bryan and Eilish meet again, he has been celibate for two years.

I know a lot of people don't like the heroine staying celibate, while the hero doesn't. Depending on the circumstance, I tend to feel the same. There doesn't seem to be a logical reason for why one (usually the guy) would move on and not the other, especially when it spans years. But I think it made sense here. Not everything can be boiled down to "tropes." Like I said, this made sense and had a purpose, at least in my mind. I understood why Eilish would be gun-shy. She had been a virgin, fantasizing about the guy she was with, and woke up not only to rejection, but to him not remembering. Plus, she had a kid, and virtually no support since she was in a different country for school. All this would equate to celibacy (imo), just like it would make sense for Bryan to continue partying, drinking into oblivion, and hooking up with people. Again, I understand what readers are saying when they say they're tired of it, but celibacy or lack thereof also has to fit the characters, and this did. It would be disingenuous otherwise.*

I'm not trying to change any ones mind about it, those are just my thoughts ;)

description

Okay... on to the feels. My chest literally ached for Eilish every time she recounted feeling "forgettable." That is a horrible feeling, and I think the authors portrayed her insecurities and wounds very well.
What I didn’t say, what I couldn’t give a voice to, what caught in my throat, too heavy with emotion to be spoken out loud, was that I didn’t need a prince. I’d happily settle for someone who wouldn’t forget me.
And when she begged her heart to stop feeling?
Stupid heart. Stop swelling. Swelling is bad for you. Stay small and protected.
Heart = broken. But she didn't dwell on it, I thought there was a good balance between her feeling the pain and trying to move away from it. However, while I really connected to these emotions, I didn't really connect to her. I think a big part of it was her maturity. She wasn't immature per se, like I can't pinpoint details, but for being a mother she didn't always act how I would expect or want her to.

Now Bryan. *sigh* Despite being a complete prick in the beginning, I warmed up to him. Alcohol really does change a person, and he was a great example. He knows what an ass he was, and I thought he treated Eilish very well, especially once he found out he slept with her and doesn't remember.
I didn’t think there was any alcohol strong enough to make me forget this beauty, and if I did, I didn’t deserve to remember her.
I’d had my greedy, ungrateful hands on her— been inside her— but I was too wrapped up in myself at the time to appreciate how lucky I was... What would it feel like to be on the receiving end of being forgotten?
She didn’t deserve to be forgotten. She deserved to be treasured.
description

I also liked his overall attitude. He wasn't angry with her, because he knew he wasn't in a good place five years ago. And he owned up to his mistakes. He didn't blame his mother, which would have been convenient because she was an alcoholic too, he just owned who he was. AND he wasn't up his own ass about himself. Words can't express how much I love this next quote.
It wasn’t that I thought I was the prize of the century or anything, but generally speaking, when I made the effort to chat up a woman, they were a lot more receptive than Red had just been.
Finally, a guy who gets around but doesn't think he's Gods gift to women. It was a refreshing change.

description

Okay, so what didn't work for me. I cannot stress this enough; most things I dislike in a second chance story are entirely because of my own preferences.

1. Eilishs insta-lust upon seeing Bryan again for the first time. It's tricky because I understand her being attracted to him, especially if he was the only person she'd been with. But at the same time, I think it would be hard for me to immediately think of him in those terms. Even if I'd moved on, I don't think I'd be able to look at the guy who took my virginity and forgot about it as this dreamboat kind of guy. We, the readers, know Bryan has changed and that he's a decent and really nice guy now, but I couldn't 100% understand her lust overriding her hurt.

2. The "conflict" at the end. So, I think I finally figured out why second chance doesn't always work for me. I know I always complain about the sex coming before the discussion, but I think I pinpointed exactly why this bothers me. I know we all want some conflict/angst in our books (it'd be pretty boring otherwise), but with second chance stories, that (for the most part) already happened. They've already experienced heartache. And I wish more authors would focus on that as the conflict in the story. I know it makes it ass backwards to have the conflict come so soon and then have it be (relatively) smooth sailing until the end. Some might find this boring, but for me second chance stories are less about plot and more about characters and emotions (and not centered around lust). I'm not looking for twists or a shakeup at the end. I would prefer for the angst to come in the beginning, when the hero and heroine are trying to find their way back to each other. But more often than not, that conflict gets swept under the rug, the characters get together again, and then another conflict occurs.

Now, ironically, this peeve of mine is pretty mild in this book. Eilish and Bryan do have plenty of discussions about the past, and they don't sleep together until , so they aren't moving fast. But I think given how lust-filled Eilishs thoughts were, I would have preferred for her feelings to be explored just a little bit more, as well as Bryan's relationship insecurities. I understood them, but they were addressed so late in the book, and it kind of changed his behavior which isn't what I expect when I've already watched a character evolve for 85% of the book. So the only reason I'm bringing this up (besides my aha! moment) is because I would have preferred if they explored these two things sooner and left off the drama at the end, which felt forced for the sake of conflict.

I always feel like I'm being a nag when I give negatives on a 4-star review, but whenever I see a 4-star review with only positive things, I'm left thinking... why wasn't it 5-stars?! So I'm not trying to be a nagging bitch. Because I really enjoyed this book, I flew through it, so obviously it was good. But personally, I wanted just a little bit more. I think if you're a fan of either author, or this series, you'll definitely enjoy this! My complaints are purely a me thing, and in no way change my love for these authors. I can't wait for more of this series *ahem* Particularly Will, I really hope this sweetheart will be getting his own book ;)

It’s no secret that I am a HUGE Penny Reid and L.H. Cosway fan. Seriously, these two have teamed up to write one of the best romantic sports series that I am totally smittened and obsessed with. And in their newest installment to the Rugby Series, Reid and Cosway has readers like myself swooning for Bryan Leech as he tries to win the heart and trust of the mother of his son, Eilish Cassidy in The Cad and the Co-Ed.

photo fe77d2cb0f666d5eec2f5a864bd6ec_zpssl7zw5r7.gif I couldn’t explain it, but I had to admit to myself that I was drawn to her. Not just because she was beautiful, but because she had a presence, an energy I found incredibly appealing despite the fact that she clearly considered me . . . scum? Unappealing? Beneath her notice? Maybe a combination of all three. ”

Bryan Leech was a cad. Hell, he was notorious for his playboy and manwhoring ways. As one of Ireland’s famous rugby player,he was no stranger to the party scene especially when alcohol was involved.

#TheCad&Co-Ed

Five years ago, a naive nineteen year old thought she was in love when Bryan Leech took her virginity. She was in pure bliss that was until the next morning when Bryan didn’t remember who she was. Eilish Cassidy was devastated that her one-night of happiness was tarnished when Bryan treated her like any other woman he slept with.

Fast forward to the present, Bryan Leech is no longer an alcoholic and has gotten his life in order. He is on the road to live a healthy and responsible life. And so when he bumps into a certain red-head, he felt a connection not realizing that it was Eilish Cassidy.

photo fe77d2cb0f666d5eec2f5a864bd6ec_zpssl7zw5r7.gif Forks, he was handsome when he was happy. So handsome. Magnetic. And when he laughed, he was devastating—free and open and alive—he made me feel alive in a way I hadn’t experienced since . . . since . . . That night.”

After her one night with Bryan five years ago, Eilish discovered that she was pregnant and decides to keep it. She went from a naive nineteen year old girl who had to grow up fast and become a single working mom. And so when she runs in Bryan, her feelings for him still lingered but she is hesitant to tell him the truth that he is the father to Patrick. As Eilish’s cousin, Sean tries to remind her that Bryan is a changed man, Eilish too also see the changes.

When Eilish lets Bryan into her life, she informs him the truth of what resulted that night five years ago. How will Bryan react when he discovers that he is a father? And will Eilish be able to fully trust and give her heart to Bryan as he tries to seduce and win back her affection and trust?

Bryan Leech will win anyone’s heart as he shows that he is a changed man. Heck, you can even say he is kinda boring now that he is no longer into the party scene but this new and improved Bryan is what he needed to be. He got his career in track and has been sober for a couple of years and now with the new revelation that he is a father, Bryan is over the moon ecstatic. And what would even make it better is winning Eilish’s heart. So will this former cad be able to win the heart of the co-ed that he has been pining after?

photo fe77d2cb0f666d5eec2f5a864bd6ec_zpssl7zw5r7.gif I’d never forget that look. I’d never forget seeing her like this. I’d never forget another moment with her for the rest of my life.”

The Cad and the Co-Ed was smart romance done right. This book had beautifully weaved humor, sass, friendship, family, second chances and heart. The writing was fresh, crisp, and brilliantly told in a fashion where readers could feel for the characters as both Eilish and Bryan discover second chances at love and life do exist. Honestly, I want to tell readers to do themselves a big favor and go read this book and series. Trust me when I tell you that Reid and Cosway will have you begging for more. So if you are looking for a romance that has heat, humor, and heart then I suggest you read The Cad and the Co-Ed.

5 Stars!

 photo E9498A4A-273F-4940-821A-1C22097BBA7B_zpsovzlkmzz.jpg

Eilish Cassidy spent one wonderful, beautiful, night with the man of her dreams, fullback for the Irish National Rugby team, Bryan Leech. She was 19, & it was the most meaningful experience of her life. She'd been infatuated with him for years & he was her fantasy come true. Only problem was the next morning he didn't remember a thing.

To make her situation even worse Eilish finds out she's pregnant & is then cut off from her family. The only person she has is her cousin Sean Cassidy. Sean & Eilish grew up together & he's like a brother to her. With Sean's help Eilish works hard to finish college & be the best single mom she can be.

Eilish moves back to Ireland & her cousin Sean helps her get a job as a physiotherapist for his rugby league. This new job will put Eilish right in the path of her son's father. She hasn't seen Bryan in five years & is totally freaking out. He completely crushed her last time she saw him, & she's not sure she can handle being in the same room with him. She's trying to move on with her life & do what's best for her son.

Bryan Leech had a reputation as a wild playboy. He was known as the fun loving party guy and he often experienced blackouts from drinking too much. He partied the last ten years away & then finally decided it was time to get it together & get sober. He's been sober now for about two years.

 photo D2F5201E-991C-4E6D-B3CE-1BF2D06FFDD7_zps5dmd1ryr.png

Bryan is now 30, & a completely different person. His sobriety is everything to him. His new lifestyle is about peace, quiet & serenity. He comes face to face with Eilish, but of course doesn't realize their history. He see's her & is totally captivated. Redheads are his kryptonite & he feels an instant connection he can't explain. He's so drawn to her he decides to pursue her. He becomes obsessed with her & can't figure out why his usual charms aren't working.

Eilish is so scared her secret will come out. At the same time she hates she still has feelings for Bryan. She can't let him close enough to hurt her again, yet she can't change how just the sight of him does things to her. She desires him so completely and desperately it consumes her. Eventually Bryan finds out he has a child & he makes it his mission to prove to Eilish he's a changed man. He's ready to settle down & wants to be a family. The problem is Eilish doesn't trust him & thinks she's forgettable to Bryan. Can he convince her she's unforgettable & the woman of his dreams?

I loved this book so much! This beautiful man makes such a transformation. He has such a pure, loving heart, & he was absolutely dreamy. He fell so hard for Eilish & fought to win her heart!

-Those intense eyes looked deep into me, cut me right to the core. I'd never get over them, not in a million years.

-"I want you, Eilish. I want you with every breath I take."

-I'd never forget another moment with her for the rest of my life.

-His soul was my missing piece. Our hearts found a home in each other. He was my other half. He was meant for me.

3* @ECassChoosesBryan STARS!

Review @ Midnight Romance

Another surprise! Look at dat cover. Fiery hot. However, the reality hits me hard and it didn't like what I've expected. The story focused on Sean Cassidy's cousin, Eilish. I was glad that the characters from previous books made appearance and makes this one was less boring. Am I say it was boring? Yup. Beware of my unpopular opinion.

description

Six years ago, innocent Eilish Cassidy awe-struck with the rugby player, Bryan Leech. She gave him everything that day including herself. He literally crushed her and Eilish went back with tail between her legs. Now, Eilish struggled being a single parent and trying to survive with her cousin's help. Bryan was a reformed bad boy who couldn't take his eyes off from the red-haired woman. Bryan feels something he can't explain and surprised to know the truth.
He smelled like my dreams. And he felt too good to be true.
He is too good to be true.
And you’re forgettable.

At first, I'm struggle with some issues mostly between Bryan and Eilish.
✔ First, the insta-love. It was no different between six years ago and nowadays. I just couldn't connect with them.

✔ Second, I couldn't imagined how stupid Eilish with her first night with Bryan. Really?! Eilish supposed to be smart about 'protection'. Gurl, you just met him and spread your legs easily?

✔ Third, the single parent issue. Eilish was really stubborn as hell. Pregnant and disowned by your own family? Check. But rejected Sean's help? The only person who cares about her? Stupid.

description

Six years ago, I stamped Bryan as an asshole. However, after he revealed about his drinking problem and I still didn't convince. Now he's clean and ready to turn over a new leaf. I was frustrated with their cat and mouse game. Clearly Eilish still wants him but she didn't want to take the risk because of her fear. But it became exhausting with the on/off attitude between them.

description

I felt somehow this story has less 'sporty' ambiance than the previous. The story mainly focused on Eilish and Bryan's second chance romance. They're trying to repair the non-existent relationship. My other issues was they tried so hard to be hot yet I didn't feel that way. Also the drama. OHMYGOSH! Those two tends to over-exaggerating everything without talk. Another stupidity.
I caught Eilish’s gaze and her blush deepened. Was she thinking about me tackling her? Because that sounded really, really nice as long as it was on a bed and we were both naked. Sign me up.
Yeah, I was hot for her. Holding back wasn’t an option anymore.

The only redeemed point was their child. Somehow I'm touched with their act as a parents. Also Sean really did a great job in addition. Overall, the story was well-written as always but I just couldn't feel the chemistry between Bryan and Eilish. They're really need their own space to be together minus the drama. I'm just disappointed this wasn't entertaining enough for me.

I’d never forget that look.
I’d never forget seeing her like this.
I’d never forget another moment with her for the rest of my life.
I held myself above her, savoring how hot and perfect and amazing she felt.
...
Because it’s her.
Emotion overtook me, my heart drumming away inside my chest. She had no idea how much I felt for her, how deeply I was falling in love with her.

Did I think this would work? Hell no.
Did I read it anyway? Hell yes.
Was it worth the read? Abso-fu$king-lutely. Although not was all rainbows and unicorns here. Well for me anyway. Different strokes in all that jazz.

5 Karma is a Wanker Stars.

Our Hero/heroine had one passionate night at Ronan and Annie’s wedding. One problem? Ah Bryan is a bit fuzzy on the details. Okay fuzzy is an understatement but just go with it.

Meet the heroine of the book.

Eilish Cassidy is the black sheep of the family she sullied the family name. Outspoken was bad enough but also a fallen woman, a college dropout. A scandal. But in the end she did the right thing. Times were tough but Monkey Sean was always by her side.

Meet the Hero of the book.

Bryan Leech rugby star, man-whore although with his past and that he was actually constantly drunk for three and half years no surprise there. Now some people will say it doesn’t matter his behaviour was inexcusable. Well sorry peeps but I don’t see it that way and I’ll get to why in a short while. We get to see him as a reformed man.

@THEBryanLeech: There’s nothing better in life than a cup of peppermint tea, a comfortable pair of PJs and a good book. @RonanFitz to @THEBryanLeech: You got hacked by your Granddad again. Just FYI.

I wanted some epic grovelling throughout the book as he forgot the heroine and I got what I wanted. From near start to finish he worked for Eilish. For what he wanted. A family. Love and happiness. I thought he couldn’t redeem himself here but with time he is a fantastic Hero.

She didn’t deserve to be forgotten. She deserved to be treasured.

Eilish though annoyed me to no content. I didn’t get her she behaved like a petulant child at the best of times. But then there were other times that I was surprised that with her family, Sean excluded she wasn’t more unhinged then she sometimes was in the book. But for someone so intelligent she sure did act stupid. William really? And at times really quite judgemental.

There were times that I was torn about the plot, the characters of the book. But Cosway/Reid pulled it off with all my frustration they got the balance right with emotion that underline it all to the end of the book.

Personally Cosway/Reid could make you like Hannibal Lector with the way they write together. I hope that we see a lot more books in the future. I would love to see a book with William. Just saying.
Read it, don’t read. Hate it or love it. I know I loved it.

After reading the Cad and the Co-Ed, I need to be going back and reading the first two in this series: if this was anything to go by I've been denying myself a real treat.

description

I'm actually not a fan of the Surprise! You're a dad! trope, but I am a huge fan of rugby players, Irish fellas, strong heroines and more recently Penny Reid's writing so couldn't wait to dive in and see what lay in store. And I have to say Penny's collaboration with L.H Cosway worked hugely for me: as far as I'm concerned, they played it right with the right balance of romance, humour and feeling.

"I’m pretty sure she finds me about as appealing as a fungal infection."

Whilst it wasn't flawless and there were minor aspects that I felt needed a little more tying up , or felt a bit leftfield , on the whole I loved Bryan and Eilish together.

"I wanted Eilish to feel like I was good enough for her. I wanted her to feel proud to stand beside me when we went out."

The lengths Bryan goes to in his quest to redeem himself to Eilish for his mistake were nothing short of swoon worthy. He was perfect: witty, grouchy, thoughtful, gentle and a little bit dirty, I loved him, and his interactions with his son awoke my somewhat dormant ovaries. And Eilish is perfect for him, wiser than her years was, she's a strong, driven woman and an amazing mum who has raised the most wonderful little boy.

"I know you two were kissing."

The Cad and the Co-Ed can definitely be read as a standalone and not having read the previous books had no impact whatsoever on who's who, who's with who or my enjoyment at all. So not only have I the rest of the series to check out but I now need to check out L.H Cosway's books too--I'd call that a success. Albeit an expensive success with all the books I'm now off to buy.

After getting the sneak peek of The Cad and The Co-Ed in the last book, I could not wait to read it. I was ready for all that juicy angst and emotional drama that it seemed it would provide.

So imagine my surprise to find out that our "CAD", Bryan, is nothing but a lovable, hunky teddy bear. Where did the jerk go? I was so looking forward to reading about him going through that journey. However, that certainly didn't take away from him having an amazing romance with Eilish.

Bryan and Eilish meet up for the second time at William's birthday party. Bryan is drawn to her and cannot stop following her around. Eilish, on the other hand, is trying her best to stay away from him but it's a losing battle.

description

I loved, loved, feeling their sexual tension and just reading and waiting for them to finally get their acts together. The other emotional aspect of it was when Bryan finally finds out the truth and going through all those emotions and scenes was just incredible.

And can I just say that I love Sean? He was surprisingly awesome, much more so than he was in his own book. I love how well he took care of Eilish and Patrick...it was pretty spectacular.

The dramas were pretty good. They have some interesting family dynamics that made a few things pretty tough to go through. And ultimately, almost caused them to end things. Once again, Sean came to the rescue.

I know I say this almost too many times but that epilogue was just priceless. That just made everything so worth it.

Sooooo, there was no sneak peek in this book and I can't believe they left us just hanging like that. Where in the heck is William's book???

Don't miss out on the except at the end of The Player and the Pixie! This is gonna be a good one!!

Bryan is just great luv his character.

Again these authors have done and amazing job. This book was just brilliant. After the lil teaser that was in the last book. I needed to know how things went for Eilish and Bryan after the way it was left. I wasn't disappointed. I found that Bryan's character was just totally different than I though he would be which was good. Eilish is stronger than I thought she would be. She kept her cool even being so close to Byran who is so sexy. He has big muscles tattoos and is a sports man I could of asked for more he is just sexy and funny as well. I really enjoyed this book. I hope we get more from these big rugby guys I d luv more of William. There is something about him I just want more of him. I luvd getting more of Sean with him being Eilish cousin. I enjoyed this story but I did find that it dragged a lil in the middle but overall it was great and I would recommend this book and the rest of the series.

I have to admit I was interested to see how they would redeem Bryan Leech after his less than stellar performance in the previous two books… Move the series along five years is how.

"You’re sort of unexpected, do you know that?"

We are given a harsh refresher as to how much of a dick Bryan was in the opening of this book and how he came to meet Eilish Cassidy, but the rest of the story plays out five years on, and the Bryan Leech you are introduced to now, is a guy who prefers his slippers, bird-watching book and a herbal mint tea of a Friday night over an evening of drink, drugs and debauchery.

This was a slow burn romance in the strongest of terms, and understandably so when you take into account all of the personal baggage Bryan has, add to it Eilish’s, and then carefully balance on top of all that their joint baggage, and they had more than a few issues that needed to be worked through.

And rightly so, it took a while for this couple to get to their happy place. There are a lot of outside factors poking their noses in as well which added the inevitable drama in the story-line, some of whom I feel deserved more comeback to their actions than actually happened. But all in all this was a pretty sweet, and in parts funny read.

"We’ve been through a lot together. So we should kiss each other until its all better."

Second-chance romance, with a cute kid, plenty of banter from the rest of the guys, and the introduction of another player whom I hope to see have a book in the future (Will Moore), The Cad and the Co-Ed was an easy-going and entertaining read from start to finish.

I hope to see more from Penny and Lorraine in the future, their writing styles really work well together.

I swear. The Rugby series by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid just keeps getting better and more enjoyable. My heart is doing a little happy dance after reading The Cad and the Co-Ed.

I think I found a new book boyfriend in Bryan Leech. Yes, he starts off as a total dickhead—or a cad as the title indicates—but the rugby bad boy more than redeems himself. His lifestyle makes a complete 180º turn, and the differences that entails are funny and sweet. I’m all for a bit of delayed gratification, but I love that the reader doesn’t have to wait until the middle of the book to see his transformation begin.

Eilish Cassidy is a very young but devoted single mom with a forgiving spirit, spine of steel, and determination in spades. Her appeal is impossible to deny. Eilish’s vulnerability, her self-sacrificing love for her child, and even her stubbornness resonated with me. Bryan’s patience and understanding are remarkable, and to say I liked his chemistry with Eilish would be an understatement. It’s their little boy, Patrick, though that completely melted my heart.

Eilish’s cousin, Sean, is every bit as delightful in this book as I remember from his story in The Player and the Pixie. There are many moments when Sean is a real scene stealer, and I loved it.

Depending on my mood, I can either be a cynical reader or a sappy romantic reader. Perhaps I was the latter, but the combination of a regretful good man, a resilient mom, and a precious four-year old left me floating on a cloud of cotton candy, with kittens, and rainbows, and chocolate, and red wine, and everything other thing I love but can’t think of right now surrounding me. That sounds stupid now that I’ve written it down, but you get the picture. I enjoyed the heck out of The Cad and the Co-Ed. I’m hoping Will’s story is next. #prettyplease

***** 5 Stars *****

Can be read as a standalone

This is a must read!!!!! I laughed. I cried. I freaking ran into walls because I couldn't put this down!

Eilish Cassidy has a secret. She has a 4-year-old son, and the father is Bryan Leech. The only other person that knows the identity of the boy's father is Eilish's cousin, Sean.

She refuses to tell Bryan because of his history. A reckless playboy with an issue with alcohol. He doesn't even remember having sex with Eilish because he was so wasted that night.

When Sean helps her get an internship as a physiotherapist for the rugby team, she is forced to see Bryan almost everyday. And the guilt for keeping her son away from his biological father weighs her down.

As a recovering alcoholic, Bryan has been clean for almost 2 years. His crazy life turned into a boring one. So when news about his son come to light, his life has a new purpose.

Bryan and Eilish can't ignore the attraction, but the two have some serious issues. Eilish is scared about a custody battle if things get ugly. And Bryan is scared of women that take advantage of him.

I wish this could be a movie. I loved all the hilarious moments and cute romantic scenes. And this story also had the perfect amount of steaminess.
