Monster Hunter: World is big and beautiful and, yes, sometimes baffling.

You’re never short of things to do. There are people to meet, monsters to hunt, items to collect and a New World to explore. Each of these is associated with activities like investigations, bounties, expeditions and assigned quests. But keeping track of everything being asked of you — and learning what you can ignore — takes time.

This is not a game that will hold your hand. Some things, like main mission quests, are impossible to ignore. But so much else, from managing your items with your pouch and item box to upgrading your armor to the unspoken loop that informs what you should do next, aren’t obvious, particularly for players new to the franchise who can learn a ton in our Monster Hunter: World beginner’s guide.

Enter Polygon’s Monster Hunter: World guides. We’re here to help you understand Capcom’s game, in part because it isn’t always terribly concerned with explaining itself. Check out the guides in the tables of contents above to make your journey through the New World a lot less confusing.
