Organizational Barriers to Professional Development for Nurses

Introduction
You are invited to participate in a research project being conducted by researchers from Western Governors University. Mr. B. Daniel Budusan is conducting research to determine barriers placed by organizations on the professional development of professional nurses.

Description of the project:
• The project will try to identify barriers that organizations place on the professional development of nurses. Only US licensed professional nurses will be selected for the study.
• You will be asked to complete a brief survey that will be delivered in online format.
• You are expected to participate as individual registered nurses, not as representatives of any particular organization.
• The study is not limited to any particular organization and data identifying any particular organization will not be collected.
• All participants are expected to agree to the terms set herein and to fully complete the survey.

Benefits and Risks of this study: This study is intended to contribute to a more educated nursing workforce, improved work environments and improved patient outcomes.  
It aims to provide data to nursing administrators and educators in developing programs and support systems to alleviate perceived barriers and improve professional development of nurses. There are no anticipated risks to participants in this study.

Confidentiality: All information will be collected anonymously. The researcher will be the only person who will know your name, but no names or individual answers will be divulged. All data will be aggregated and analyzed. No individual case studies will be conducted.
 
Voluntary participation and withdrawal: Participation in this study in completely voluntary. All participants are expected to fully complete the survey delivered. Participants may withdraw at any time from and will not be penalized for non-participation.
