January 2019

Dear Reader,

In this letter, I have written a free essay, below, called An Introduction to 2019 to give you an exciting overview of the coming year. There are lots of new trends that will offer this year a new look and feel, and I knew you would want to be filled in on those interesting details. It certainly will be a more productive year than 2018, and I will show you why in a moment.

Before you read my essay on the Year Ahead 2019 found below, I want you to know I am doing two free events in New York in January and one special keynote at the New Life Expo in Deerfield FL, near Boca Raton, on Saturday, February 2. Please come—I want to meet you!

Your Horoscope by Susan Miller

You seem very involved with either your residence or another property you own, or you’re thinking about your family or one particular member.

As the month opens, on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Saturn will conjoin the Sun, which is a very sensitive and difficult configuration. In December, you may have worked too hard on family dinners, shopping, holiday decorating, and entertaining, so by the time you got to New Year’s Eve, you may have felt exhausted, frustrated, or a little sad that no one seemed to appreciate all you did. They do value what you do, but family members don’t always express those thoughts. You will feel better once you get a day or two beyond January 1.

Something unusual is happening in January regarding your home. You will have a crowd of planets moving into your house of home and family, along with a new moon solar eclipse, in Capricorn, 15 degrees, on January 5. Eclipses are very powerful, for they take the energy of a normal new moon and multiply it many times over. You are likely to see changes in your residence or another property you own, or news regarding a family member. Among the other heavenly bodies in your home sector will be Pluto, Saturn, and Mercury – that is a lot of energy in one part of the chart.

That group of planets will be at odds with your Libra Sun, so you may be frustrated that not everything is clicking into place, and you may feel tense. If you keep to your program, you will begin to see plans go more smoothly, especially by the third week of January and beyond. In the meantime, you can take advantage of some of the opportunities that come up from the new moon, January 5, especially in the ten days that follow.

You will see a home-related opportunity arise after the solar eclipse appears on January 5. If you need to move, this will be one of the best months of the year to browse new apartments or houses, to look for antiques (planets in Capricorn will encourage finding things with historical value), and to improve or change the structure of your home. You can make repairs you’ve put off.

If your home seems to be feeling small, you might declutter by gathering items to give a charity thrift shop. Or, you may be redoing your closets, so you can better organize your possessions. Saturn in the fourth house, where you are hosting this planet, is likely to make your home seem smaller than ever, so you may feel you need to move or take steps to give yourself more space.

Neptune, the planet of artistic creativity, will be wonderfully oriented toward the eclipse, so if you are working on a design project or simply refreshing your home with new accessories, paint on the walls, and other small changes for your home or vacation home, your timing could not be better. Neptune will help you make beautiful design choices.

It is never wise to announce a big move or decision on an eclipse, so it might be handy to remember this rule: react, but do not initiate. The cosmos will be kicking up a lot of dust, and it will be hard to see the road ahead.

Libra is the sign of marriage, and you value the opinion of your significant other, but this month, your partner seems not to be on your page, and if anything, is critical of you and does not seem to agree with your home-related plans or results. You’ll find this is a temporary situation, but it’s adding to your overall dissatisfaction with how things are going. Don’t let this disturb you – keep going, for you do seem to have a vision of what you’d like to achieve.

If you live alone and need a roommate, you might be able to find a suitable roommate after the new moon solar eclipse, January 5, and in the days and weeks to follow.

You may be hosting a family member in your guest room for several days after January 5, for Uranus (the planet of surprise) will contact Mercury (the planet of news), now based in your home sector. Uranus will be friendly, so whatever news you receive in early January seems to be welcome. Perhaps one of your relatives (possibly in-laws or an aunt or uncle) will come to town and need a place to stay. I know you have been under strain over the holidays, but you will want to go all out to help your visiting relative.

If you have a more serious situation – which is possible, due to the presence of Saturn in your home sector – you may consider having your mother or father come to live. If your parent is ill and needs you, this might be the solution. It is a good time to do that, but it will require adjustment, as family dynamics change and need to settle in.

This solar eclipse, January 5, which focuses on your home and family, will be similar to the one that occurred 19 years ago, on January 5, 2000. If you can recall what happened then, you might get an idea of the themes that might come up now. Nothing in the past repeats exactly, as other planets surrounding the eclipse will have since moved to very different positions, but you might notice a similar motif, and that can give you clues of what might come up.

If your birthday falls on October 8, plus or minus four days, you may feel the solar eclipse the most. Keep in mind that new moons bring fresh beginnings, so you may like the shifts taking place now.

The month holds a second eclipse, a full moon lunar eclipse in Leo, one degree, on January 20, lighting your eleventh house of friendship, but it will be somewhat troublesome. A situation might go very wrong, suddenly and without warning, and you will have to watch what you say, for if you jump to conclusions and are accusatory, you may lose a friendship forever.

A full moon brings an ending or culmination, and in this case, it might bring an event, such as a birthday party or wedding. Uranus, based in your partnership sector, will be angry at the moon in Leo, and your friend in the potentially charged scene appears to be female. Uranus will challenge the Sun in your new love (dating) house too, setting up a complex situation. Everyone will be on edge at this eclipse, so people you encounter of every sign will be walking on eggshells due to circumstances in their own lives.

If you are not upset with a friend, it might be that she is moving away and being eclipsed out of your life, making you sad to see her go. Or, it may be that your friend needs your help, as she is going through a difficult patch in life.

It is never wise to announce a big move or decision on an eclipse, so it might be handy to remember this rule: react, but do not initiate. The cosmos will be kicking up a lot of dust, and it will be hard to see the road ahead. Be patient as information unfolds. If your birthday falls on September 23-27, you will feel this eclipse more directly than most Libras.

Because it’s a full moon, it would be all too easy to speak your mind, but you might want to wait a few days until the environment is less emotional. If you feel you have reached the end of this friendship, so be it – this happens, especially if you feel your friend has betrayed you or has been acting in an unacceptable way. The point is, make sure you’ve taken the time to think things through.

I want to mention something special here – Uranus, which has been retrograde since last August 7, will go direct this month on January 6. Uranus rules your fifth house of new and truelove, so your love life will improve after Uranus goes direct. If you wish to conceive a baby but have had problems, you will see that fertilization should go better. Be careful to choose the right days to have an in vitro procedure – I like the days that follow the new moon next month, February 4. (You have nearly two weeks after the new moon appears, so maybe your natural cycle will work with the new moon.) You will have other bonuses from the turn of Uranus direct – you will see matters related to the care of children you have now, no matter what their ages, to be much improved. Also, this same house rules your self-expression, so creative projects will move ahead much more smoothly, and that is sure to please you, too.

You do have several good days this month to balance out some of the stressful moments regarding your home or family and also your friendship situation.

Your first special day will occur on Friday, January 18, when Venus, your ruler, and Mars sync up in a highly romantic, sweet alignment. Venus will be in Sagittarius, a fire sign, and Mars will be in a fire sign, too – Aries – with both planets blending beautifully together with your Libra air-sign Sun. Mars will be in your committed partnership sector, and Venus will be in your travel sector. If you have to travel a short distance with your business partner, this is the day to go, for all will go smoothly. Even though this is a classic aspect for love, this date falls too close to the eclipse January 20, so I feel you should not plan a getaway for this weekend. You will need to be home to think through what you need to do.

Two days later, January 22, you do have a remarkably rare day, when Venus and Jupiter combine forces and will meet in your short-distance travel sector. This day holds goodies on many fronts. You can schedule a face-to-face meeting with a business client with superb results – you are likely to come home with the order, for when Jupiter is involved, profits usually follow.

You can benefit from your sibling on January 22, or you may hear of your sibling’s victory on this day. This also would be a good day for a quick, short trip, especially for business, but it could be for any reason. Sometimes after a stressful time, it’s nice to board a train and go to a nearby city, book a hotel room, visit a museum exhibit, see an old friend, order room service, and generally chill out. You might want to do that on January 22, and no one would blame you.

You have one other special day due, January 25, when Mars and Jupiter will send golden beams to each other. This day is very special, because Mars is all about acting courageously, and Jupiter brings happiness, growth, and profit. On this day, your actions are likely to lead to solid financial results.

SUMMARY

With Pluto, Saturn, Mercury, the Sun, and new moon solar eclipse of January 5 all crowded into your fourth house of home, change is coming. All change requires adjustment – even good news. If you have to move, you will be in luck, for the January 5 eclipse will help you find a suitable space. New moon eclipses often open opportunities, and this one is no exception, so make a start on your home or property-related plans. Rarely will you have powerful planetary energy like this to help you.

If you are redecorating, Neptune’s fine position will give you ideas to make your home welcoming with beautiful colors, textures, and graceful design. Saturn will conjunct the Sun, so if you move, it appears you will remain in your new space a very long time.

Initially, you may have to convince those you live with, such as your spouse or established partner, that your plans are sound. Mars is stirring the pot in your close relationships, so your well-known Libra diplomacy will help you attain what you want, but only after you do a bit of negotiation. Uranus, the planet of surprise, will be in fine angle to Mercury, so by talking things through regarding a property matter, you can reach your goal at the start of the month.

If you’re not moving or changing your home or other property, after the solar eclipse of January 5 you may focus on a certain mature family member who may need your attention. Due to Saturn’s strong presence, the matter may be weighty and serious, but not beyond your ability to solve.

The full moon lunar eclipse will arrive on January 20 and light your eleventh house of friendship. You may have a sudden disagreement with a friend, and it could result in a falling out between you. Uranus will send harsh aspects to the Sun and full moon, rattling you with the suddenness of the situation.

You might promise yourself you will not speak to her again, for you may feel that she crossed the line, and you can’t forgive her or trust her again. Or, it may be your friend finds herself in a rough patch, and you will be needed to help where you can. In a third way this full moon might manifest, you may see a friend move away or change her lifestyle, such as to marry or become a parent, and although you are happy for her, you know your paths will diverge, and you won’t be close anymore. It’s due to be a bittersweet eclipse.

Quick travel will be possible this month, and if you can go away a short distance, your trips may act as the perfect way to retain balance and clarity in a sometimes stressful month. The only time not to go would be near or on the eclipse, January 20, which might bring up too much to do – you’ll want to stay home. You will be able to handle all that comes up – you had a similar eclipse on January 20, 2000, precisely 19 years ago.

Eclipses tend to continue discussions and bring them to an advanced level with each subsequent eclipse. This one, January 20, seems to continue discussions that occurred last year, on July 27, or near the solar eclipse, August 10, two weeks later. At this time, you will have final closure. After this, there will be no more eclipses in Leo or Aquarius again until 2026-2028. That’s why your friendships and love life should settle down after this and not bring so many surprising changes.

One of the two sweetest days of the month will be January 22, when Venus, your guardian planet, will make a rare alignment with Jupiter, the planet of happiness. Make the most of this magnificent aspect. Take a trip for business or pleasure, sign a contract, make an important sale, and plan to connect with your sister or brother to hear good news.

Your second wonder day will be Friday, January 25, when Mars and Jupiter are in exceptional harmony, and action leads to happiness. Mars will remain in your partnership house, and Jupiter, in your third house of travel. You’ll find this is the time to leave town for a weekend getaway and include Friday, January 25, if possible. The transiting moon will be in Libra, making this last weekend of the month extra special.
