About

On June 7th, 1991, nine-year old Christopher Harris was killed while being used as a human shield in a gunfight between two men. This memorial, by sculptor Rudolph Torrini, hollow cast in bronze and filled with parts from melted handguns, stands as a testament against violence, and as a place of healing, as we mourn the lives of all the children we have lost. This statue was dedicated to the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center on November 21, 1997 by Mayor Clarence Harmon.
