Appeal denied in shoreland zoning case

    An appeal for a variance regarding a shed owned by Deborah Barnes was denied March 4 by the Wiscasset Appeals Board.

    Barnes bought a property bordering Holbrook Pond at 123 Bath Road. Prior to her ownership, the shed had been built partly on a neighbor’s land, and as part of the purchase agreement, she had to agree to move it. However, she moved it too close to the pond, which is subject to shoreland zoning regulations.

    The board agreed the shed did not qualify for a variance. The board offered to help her find another place for the shed on her property.
