Met Gala 2018: Katy Perry shocks with move on red carpet dressed in Versace

Updated

Katy Perry *lives* for themed events. The singer descended from the heavens above at the 2018 Met Gala red carpet in a Versace look that channeled this year's "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" theme.

The "Firework" songstress donned a set of massive wings on the steps of The Met, that she paired with a metallic gold mini dress, a pearl-encrusted overlay and matching thigh-high boots.

"I feel very angelic. Celestial. Ethereal," the singer told reporters.

It's clear that Perry, who went solo without on-again-off-again beau Orlando Bloom, was totally feeling confident in her fancy getup. The star flashed several poses on the carpet and at one point, Perry was photographed kneeling on the steps of The Met.

Confident or not, Perry's angelic look divided the internet ...

"She looks more like a vulture," one person wrote on Twitter.

"A bit too literal. Not one of my favorite looks," another user wrote.

Many came to her defense, calling her look "stunning" and the "angel of the ball."

Perry's Versace look was only one of the most dramatic looks of the night. Just minutes earlier, Rihanna shocked and stunned the world by dressing up as the Pope in a Maison Margiela look. Check out the slideshow below for the complete roundup of this year's Met Gala looks:
