President returns from India

President Md Abdul Hamid has returned home after a six-day visit to India.

A special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the president and his entourGe landed at the Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday night.

The plane had left Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at 9pm local time.

West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim saw the president off at the airport.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Foreign Affairs Minister Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali and Diplomatic Corps Dean Shaher Mohammad and chiefs of three services received him at the Dhaka airport.

The president left for New Delhi on Dec 18 for the visit at the invitation of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

During the trip, he held meetings with Mukherjee, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Hamid went to see the Taj Mahal in Agra and also went to Jaipur before getting to Kolkata.

On Tuesday, he visited Visva-Bharati University founded by Rabindranath Tagore at Bolpur.
