Two P’s from my Entrepreneurial Journey !

Two P’s from my Entrepreneurial Journey !

It’s been a little more than 9 months on this entrepreneurship journey and I thought of sharing the two most important learning of this journey.

9 months back when we started this venture, we looked into the happy side of it and was excited with the answers of these questions - what we could do, what impact we will be able to make, what kind of satisfaction it will give us, how empowered we will feel when we have a group of like minded people working towards one goal and blah blah. Probably if you ever thought of being an entrepreneur you might have got these questions in mind and once you get an answer to these questions you will feel the kick with in to go out and try.

Also since we come from testing background, we did look into the sad side of it and the question was - what if it fails ? And we found the answer which was “we might fail ! Big deal !!!"

This is what happened with us and we took the plunge ! Coming to the two P’s which are my learning from my entrepreneurial journey :

Plan - No matter what you do you will always need a plan ! There are two ways of looking at a plan. Some just stick to it to measure how you are performing or in which direction you are heading as you have already charted out a path in terms of the "plan”. There is another way of looking at a plan which is to put everything into a perspective and look where it might get wrong ! What is that you haven't thought of? Have you looked from all the angle? Also plan gives you a hope. While making one, you always aim to make a realistic one and hence you see the hope and optimism for your venture through that plan.

Patience - If you are impatient by your nature then I would suggest entrepreneurship might not be the right thing for you ! “Growing” in itself is very tedious and strenuous task ! No matter what you grow either flower, plant, fruit bearing tree all takes time and for that you need to be patient ! Same is with entrepreneurship, here you are “growing" your idea with your belief and hard work ! I am sure there would be certain portion of other factors needed too. But you need to be patient to see something grow ! There would be time when you would feel it’s just not moving or the pace of growth would be so slow that you might not be even able to see growth ! But all you need in that moment is a good plan and patience to keep going ! Nothing would change overnight. During my school days I was never able to use the phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day” perhaps I never understood the real meaning of it then !

I am sure there would be more P’s to uncover on this journey but for now these are the two most important learnings I had !

Happy Reading !!!

Great advise Nishant. Keep up the good work.

There is another P = Passion , which I think should be there along with Patience. Passion and Patience are like two rails of Railway track on Entrepreneurial Train runs.
