UNISON and TUC lobby of Parliament on pay

17 October 2017 4:00pm–10:00pm

Parliament Square, Westminster, London

UNISON’s Pay Up Now! campaign is putting real pressure on MPs and the Westminster Government to end the pay cap for all public sector workers, and give everyone the pay rises they need and deserve. The pressure we are putting on Conservative MPs is already beginning to pay off, but we’re saying loud and clear that we need the government to fund proper pay rises for all public service workers, not picking and choosing who gets a pay rise.

That’s why, on October 17th, we need UNISON members to take the arguments directly to the politicians in Westminster.

Lobby of MPs 2-6pm

Members are asked to try and contact their MP in advance to ask for an appointment on the 17th in London as this speeds things up on the day. Even without an appointment it is still possible to meet your MP by joining the lobby queue outside parliament.

Meet for rally in Parliament Square at 6.30pm; speakers start at 7pm

We need a big turnout from branches and activists to join with those from across the country and other unions to make our voices heard.

We want the largest possible presence from UNISON at the rally, to show that members from across public services are standing together to demand a pay rise for everyone. Dave Prentis, General Secretary, will be amongst the speakers. All are welcome including friends and family.

For more information see this briefing document which includes a practical guide to lobbying your MP, useful contact details for the rally, and key facts about public sector pay.
