After the drug tolerance policy at South Point High School has been in question by the community, the school board hosted a special meeting Wednesday night to talk about the policy and answer questions from parents and faculty.

It all came after four athletes did not pass their school-administered drug test.

Parents were worried that the current policy of time off during the season and drug counseling was either not enough consequence, and some argued it was too harsh.

“So, we have gotta keep testing 100 percent of our extracurricular students, period,” said teacher Gara Adkins. “We have got to keep the consequences in place. We have got to show these kids there is help and they have the ability to redeem yourself. Let’s get you the help first.”

Out of 198 students tested, 194 of them passed the drug test on the first round.
