The purpose of GATE exam is to test a student on the basis of the vast syllabus of their graduation years. GATE exam is tough to crack, but it is not something that cannot be achieved. A good GATE Score is very important if a candidate is seeking admission in the top engineering institutes of the country such as IITs, NITs or CFTIs. Candidates aspiring for PSU recruitment also understand the importance of a good GATE score. To get a good GATE score, a candidate should follow a preparation strategy along with hard work and lots of practice. Here are some tips to achieve a good GATE score: Give optimum time to each subject: GATE is not an exam that can be cracked with rote learning. It requires time to understand the concepts of each and every subject in the syllabus. There is no shortcut to this if you have less time left for preparation. Without understanding the basic concepts you cannot top the GATE exam. In short, each and every subject demands sufficient preparation time. Prepare a time-table and follow it religiously. Set daily, weekly and monthly targets. Practice, practice and just practice:Practice as much as you can. Try to solve sample papers, previous years question papers and take mock tests. Also, no matter which book or study material you are referring for GATE preparation; focus on making short notes on your own. You can refer these notes while revising any subject. Identify your weaknesses and get rid of them: Merely solving previous years question papers, and attempting mock tests is not enough. You should try to identify your weak areas in each subject, and before trying to attempt the next question paper or mock test, work on them.
Read your notes regularly: Making notes and storing them is not sufficient. Make a habit to go back and revise the notes at regular intervals. Do not wait for the syllabus to complete before revising the notes. Regular revision of your notes will reduce the time taken by you to revise each topic.
