Thesis Launch

Week 5 Countdown: COLLABORATE & PERSEVERE

This week's theme is "Collaborate & Persevere." You will begin connecting with professors and talking through your ideas. This step will likely take the most time, and it is common to repeat this week!

To Do List: 3-2-1-LAUNCH!

3) As you hear back from professors to set up meetings, prepare for each meeting by reviewing the professor’s ASU Directory and practicing your elevator pitch. Bring your completed Thesis Launch materials with you.

2) Meet with professors.

    • This step may take additional time, so repeat as needed. It is a normal part of the process to meet with multiple faculty members and professors that you may not know already. You may receive a rejection, and that’s ok. Ask for referrals to other professors, and go back to previous steps if needed.
    • Have you talked with a Barrett Faculty Honors Advisor in your area(s) of interest? You can reach out to any of these professors, even if it is not in your major. These professors can be a great resource to talk through your ideas and get referrals to other professors.
    • Thesis Launch has office hours for additional help; contact Trisha.Eardley@asu.edu.

1) Complete your Week 5 online reflection journal.

    • Did I meet with any professors this week? If so, how did it go-- what went well, and what will I change next time? Will I need to repeat the steps from this week?
