This is how my life goes. It’s pretty damn simple. I work with very little play. I’m an ICU Dietitian. What exactly does this mean? My career is my one true love. Nothing else compares.
Until one night, I decided to go outside my comfort zone. A little friendly flirting turned into a night filled with want and need. Not once did I ever think I would do something like this. One-night stand, no strings attached. Me leaving the next morning, hoping to never see him again.
3.5 Stars to Flatline (Med Rom Series Book #1) by Kristine Dugger. Genres: Romance, Erotic Romance Release Date: May 2, 2017 POV: First-person single (heroine)
Leo & Paige.......
This is my first book by this author. Unfortunately, I didn't love it. That said, there wasn't anything wrong with the author's writing. The writing flowed steady and the intimacy was sexy, erotic and well-written. I do wish the POVs were from both perspectives. I think I would have liked the book more if I could understand Leo better.
My problem with this book was a non-existent connection to the characters; main and secondary. I found them to be one-dimensional for the most part. Yes, we learn they had hurtful pasts. And as a result of their pasts, neither Paige or Leo were intending to commit. Their relationship was 90% sex only. Towards the end of the book their feelings started to shift. Unfortunately, Paige's behavior left me angry, frustrated and dissatisfied. The book ending with a cliffhanger did not help my already conflicting emotions.
I can't remember the last time I completely hated a heroine. I know that is a strong word but it is how I felt. I couldn't find anything redeeming about her character.
Paige is a dietician and works long hours at the local hospital in the ICU department. She is devoted to, and loves her job. Paige doesn't mind the long days she puts in. However, her ex-fiance had problems with it. They broke up. His reasons were that he didn't love her any longer and wanted to experience other relationships. This situation naturally left Paige heartbroken and determined to never, ever give her heart away again.
When Paige gets involved with Leo, she makes it clear to him that their relationship will be strictly casual. Sex only. No feelings.
Leo, who is a trauma doctor at the same hospital doesn't believe in relationships either. He refuses to give his heart away so when he meets Paige, he couldn't be more thrilled. He found the perfect woman. One he could have a no-strings relationship with.
Of course by the end of the book, feelings started to get involved. I won't give anything away as to what happened, especially since this book finishes in a less than happy ending. We'll have to wait for book two to see how they work out their issues. And yes, I will read that book even though I didn't love this one. Just because I don't connect with one book by an author doesn't mean I won't with another. I like to be as supportive as I can so I will always give an author a second chance, maybe even a third. As I said earlier, my opinions of Flatline are based on character behavior and personality and not a reflection on the writing talent.
*I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. My opinions are honest and unbiased.*
This was the first book that I've read by this author. I loved the cover and it hooked me in. I wanted to love this book, but I didn't. Paige did my head right in towards the end. I wanted to shake sense into her. The story itself had potential to be good. It was difficult at parts, because scenes that should have been in italics weren't and I had to re read bits. The formatting needs sorting out, because certain pages were smaller and bigger. I was constantly putting my glasses on off. Then we get a cliffhanger. I loved Leo, and I hope the next book is a better follow on. I hate being a Dow Dr on a book, because it isn't me. I was just a bit disappointed in this one.
Flatline is the first book in the Med Rom series, and it is Paige and Leo's story.
Paige is a dietitian who works in ICU at the local hospital. She is the epitome of a workaholic. Then there is Leo. He is a trauma doctor who works at the same hospital as Paige. They have never encountered each other at work, so when they meet up one night at the local bar they have no idea that they share the same workplace. They share an explosive night together, but Paige leaves the next morning without so much as a goodbye. Fate intervenes, and they soon discover that they are indeed coworkers. Leo, like Paige, isn't looking for a relationship, so they are both happy to have a "friends with benefits" agreement. but, as they spend more and more time together, their feelings for one another evolve into something more leaving them to question if a true relationship between them is possible.
This was an okay read for me. The writing was good, but I had trouble connecting to the characters. Paige was super competitive, and, quite honestly, super self centered. I liked Leo but felt there wasn't much of his feelings/thoughts thrown into the mix. In my opinion, it would have been great to have alternating POV's, so we could know more about him. Also, the book ended with a cliff which left me with conflicting emotions. With that said, I plan on reading the next book to see how things turn out for these two.
Paige and Leo are making pulses race. Paige is what you classify as a workaholic. Dedicated to her patients and driven by her need to be the best it doesn't leave much time for anything else. When out for a rare night of frivolity she indulges in a fun filled night a debauchery with the handsome Leo. What was supposed to one night with a stranger turns into something much more when she goes to work and meets ER Dr Leo Davis. When Leo makes it apparent he wants a repeat of their night but like her doesn't have the time or inclination for a relationship they embark on a benefits only relationship. Having been burned before, Paige is reluctant to opening her heart again, but when Leo makes overtures of wanting to take their relationship to the next level there is are options to consider especially when a blast from the past returns. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
Flatline is the second book I've read by Kristine Duggar and I'm anxiously waiting for more. Paige is a dietitian with a huge heart. She genuinely cares about her patients. However working in the ICU is very draining. When her girlfriends beg her for a girls night out her life makes a change, but is it for the better? Leo finds Paige at the bar on girls night and they ignite quickly in the sheets. The chemistry is there but this is just a one night stand. That's new for Paige. You'll love the lead characters in this steamy romance novel. The insides out of Paige and Leo are described nicely so you feel like your friends with them. The intimate scenes burn up the sheets. I love this book!
On a final note. I would like to add that after turning the last page : grrrrr, you are right Kristine Duggar.... I WANT MORE!!!
This was my 1st book by this author and while i wasn't ecstatic while reading it...i didn't not like it either, so am giving 3 ☆. This story is told from Paige's POV which i think is why i wasn't totally feelin Leo much... and was reminiscent of Meredith Grey's encounter with Dr. Dreamy on Grey's Anatomy (which i absolutely loved!) lol...you never know who you're actually meeting when you're at the bar and i totally love that "oh holy crap!" moment! 😂😈 When you decide NSA relationship is what's best for you...AND you find someone who wants that too...what happens if feelings start to grow? THEN to have ur past come come knockin on your door? I'm not sure if i'm #TeamLeo or #TeamJake ! This book definitely leaves you wanting more! .... like NOW! I don't mind cliffies at all...it's the wait that gets me! Patience has never been one my virtues! But i love that "oh holy hell! NO she didn't!" mode i get thrown in!
I loved this book! Flatline is the first in the Med Rom series by Kristine Dugger. The story follows Paige and Leo as they begin a romance that pushes career minded Paige to live more in the moment.
Paige and Leo are hot together and the back and forth between the two of them was great! I love stories about straight laced girls who find men who want to make them live.
Ms. Dugger was able to create a great group of friends that you really just want to join the group.
This book ends in a cliffhanger...and I am literally tapping my fingers waiting for book two. So many questions that I need answered!
We will definitely be promoting Flatline at Lamplight Review and Promotion.

I received an ARC of Flatline by Kristine Dugger in exchange of an honest review. The book was well written and flowed easily, but I didn't love it. Honestly I couldn't stand the main character.
Paige is a dietician who works way to much in the ICU department of the local hospital. She is competitive and honestly came off self centered at times. Because she worked too much her fiance left her, which of course left her heartbroken and not wanting another relationship anytime soon. So when she meets Leo, a trauma doctor at the same hospital, she couldn't be happier with the fact that all he wants is sex with no strings attached. Especially since their chemistry was hot. But what happens when real feelings start to form?
One click if you wanna find out.
Even though I was not a fan, I still might read the second book to find out what happens next.
I received an ARC of Flatline in exchange for an honest review. This is a new author for me. The story itself was well written. But for lack of a better term, it fell flat for me. It was very long and seemed to drag on at points in the book. It was a bit hard to connect with Leo's character and could maybe have had more of his POV and background and less of Paige's to balance it out. Without giving any spoilers or retelling the story, I didn't care for the way it ended. Again, it fell flat for me.
OMG!!! This book was more than what I thought it was going to be... A one night stand with Leo was all Paige could handle. Everybody she's ever loved has always left her..So she's not doing a relationship. So when he wears her down and offers her just a pysical relationship she happily accepts. Then things start changing between them and she doesn't know how to process it. Then enters Jake her ex fiance and her feelings are really up in arms. Will she choose the safe route or the man who has warmed his way In her heart and has made her see herself in another light.
Flatline is a story about two friends with benefits after a one night stand. The blurb sounded really good but I wasn’t enthralled with the book. I just couldn’t get into the author’s writing. Flatline does end in a cliffhanger.
I absolutely loved Paige and Leo. the feelings they each have jump of the pages. you will struggle with their struggle to keep the I don't do relationships, a real thing. I asked to read this book for my honest review. I wanted to throw the book...the ending geesh. but I'm gonna patiently wait for the next book, I'll probably be in tears. one click please
I loved how Paige and Leo mterset it is exciting and then meet again being shocked after a one night stand and they have great chemistry.Paige has a big heart and is so sweet and has a big decision to make once that past knocks on her door. I really liked the characters and how you come to know them. The writing is great and cant wait for more.
This is a new author to me, and I will certainly be reading more of her work in the future. Paige loves her job as a dietician in a busy hospital, but as her life revolves around her work, her friends talk her into going to a bar with them. When Paige meets Leo, the attraction in instant, and after spending the night together, and then sneaking out, Paige does not expect to see Leo again. However, fate steps in and she runs into Leo visiting a patient in the same hospital where she works, and he is a doctor. The only down side in my opinion; is the dreaded cliffy! I look forward to reading the follow on book in this series.
This is the first book I have read by this author but WOW! I can't wait for book two! I loved Paige and Leo, The chemistry between them is scorching hot!
What happens when a one night stand becomes a sex only arrangement? Nothing but heartache!!
Paige loves her job as a dietician at a busy hospital and her patients are her first priority. She works long hours, is sometimes on call and has no time for a social life. Which is fine with her because she was dumped by her fiancee and cannot deal with anymore rejection. Her friends at work think she is boring and suggest to her that the next time they go out, she should let loose and do something crazy. Which is exactly what she did. Paige noticed Leo right away and after too many drinks, she went back to his apartment and experienced the best night of her life. She snuck out the next morning confident she would never see him again, but she was in for a big surprise. Leo was visiting a patient in the maternity ward when Paige walked into the room. It seems as if his patient is Paige’s sister, and from her uniform, it looks like Paige also works at the hospital. How convenient for him, because he has been unable to forget the night they spent together and he definitely needs to be with her again. She was unforgettable.
What happens between Paige and Leo when they see each other again? Will they both agree to the arrangement or will one of them want to break the rules?
“Flatline” follows Paige and Leo’s relationship as they try to decide how they really feel about each other. I think that Paige could have been nicer to him and it bothered me that she kept changing her mind, and she wasn’t very sympathetic to Leo’s feelings. I really enjoyed the storyline, the closeness she had with her sister and the strong relationship she had with her friends. Their story continues in “Pulse”, book two in the Med Rom Series.
4 stars for Flatline (Med Room series Book 1) By Kristine Dugger
This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it even though I do wish it was written in dual POV's. I think you would get a better understanding of the characters and the reasons they feel the way they do. It is a super-hot story and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. It will have your emotions on a roller-coaster, I laughed and cried and was even upset at times at how Paige acted. You feel the title for sure by the end.
Paige is a dietician in the ICU and is dedicated to her work. She works long hours and this is the breaking point in her former relationship. When she meets Leo she is not looking for a relationship only some fun and hot sex with no attachments.
Leo is a hot and sexy ER Trauma Doctor who doesn’t do relationships either. He likes to have fun and is happy with a no strings attached one night stand.
Then when they find out they work at the same hospital and hook up again the chemistry is off the charts hot. They are perfect for each other because they are both married to their jobs. But things change and the feeling get stronger. Will it be enough for both to change their minds and commit?
This book takes a change at the end no one expects and leaves you with a cliffhanger and wanting more. What will Paige decide to do and will it be a decision that she will be happy with? I am Team Leo and hope the hottie wins the battle.
As a first read of Kristine Dugger, I got to say I highly enjoyed this one. I'll just say you'll get why it is called Flatline by the end of this one. And it is not just because it's a medical read either. Okay back on track. How can you not love books set in a hospital. Hello hot doctors. This is such a fun read. I was laughing and I have to admit I got emotional there a few times. Leo is so loveable and an doctor. Seriously I want that hot doctor. Now Paige will really crake you up. You may at times want to just go PAIGE!!!! Again you will see why. I love how Leo is so persistent of what he wants. You see the relationship of Paige and Leo pretty easy going. But then ugh you see it......I'm leaving it there because I'm refusing to give anything away. I love Paige and Leo together. The sexual chemistry is off the charts and they mess so well. Lots of laughs and sexy times to be had. Such a fantastic read. Even with this one ending in a bit of a cliffhanger you're going to love it. The only spoiler I'm giving is make sure you have book 2 ready to read. Hang on and enjoy the ride that is Paige and Leo.
Paige an ICU Dietitian at the local hospital works long hours and loves her job. Leo, a trauma Doctor works at the same hospital as Paige. Neither of them believe in relationships and when they meet they both only want a one night stand. Once they realize they work at the same hospital everything changes. Paige and Leo have great chemistry, hot sex and are perfect for each other. Will they both let their guard down and start a real relationship? Flatline is a good quick, well written story. There is a cliffhanger that only makes you want to read they next book in this series. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more by this author. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for CP Reviewers.
**Leo and Paige** Leo was burned by a women he thought he loved. So all he has ever wanted was a friends with benefits relationship. When he finds Paige who is in the same boat... He knows he found the right one for him. When they start to feel a little more than what they agreed upon, they both start to wonder and then when Paige's Ex comes back into her life and wants her back, She doesn't know what to do. Will they make it or will she choose someone else? This is the first book of Kristine Duggar's and I have to say I was very surprised at how much I loved it. When I couldn't put it down, When I needed book #2 so that I could get the conclusion. I think I may have found a new author to read. I love when I find new authors to read!
A One Night Stand... Wasn't supposed to be more than that... Turns out Paige & Leo work in same hospital... Will the two become more? Grab your copy today and find out!
Flatline was not only hot but full of angst and drama. All favorite things I love in a book. This is my first book by Kristine Dugger and will definitely not be my last. From chapter one I was drawn in and needed more. Leo and Paige had my vote from the first awkward moment they had all the way to the end - which absolutely killed me BTW. I'm in need of the next book STAT!
Hot Hospital Romance! From the second I read the blurb, I knew I had to read this book. I even asked the author for an ARC because I wanted to read it so bad. I was not disappointed. It was a quick hot read. I read it in one afternoon and did not want to put it down. I have worked in a hospital for a dozen years so all the medical terminology was not foreign to me. Prior knowledge of medical terminology is not necessary to enjoy this Medical RomCom with a bittersweet twist of fate.
Flatline does not flatline. It doesn't live true to the medical term. However, it does end in a cliffhanger though. So I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
" The End" she says, and the author also says " you are probably hating me right now". Yep you are sooo correct. Talk about a cliff hanger, please hurry up and write Pulse. A lot of hot steamy sex with Paige and Leo and seesawing around a potential relationship and then in pops the "ex". Ok readers 1 click this book you will love it and then you can hang around with us waiting for the next instalment.
I wanted to love this book, but I didn't. I'm just not sure where it went wrong for me. I'll definitely try another book by Kristine Dugger because I believe she's talented. The writing was good, though parts felt a bit disjointed. The characters were fine, though I didn't connect with Paige as I usually do with a main character. By the end, I didn't care whether there was a HEA, so the cliffhanger wasn't an issue.
Wow. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started this book. This book gripped me from the beginning and played with my emotions the whole way. I was happy, sad, confused, heart broken, cried my eyes out. Whhooo what a roller coaster. I'm glad I just found this book and that Pulse is already out because I don't think I could handle being left in limbo no having all the answers. Diving into book 2 right now because I'm not ready to leave these characters.
This was my first book with this author and I absolutely love this story about a ED doctor and this dietician. I was rooting for this couple and then stupid girl decides to choose her ex instead of the doctor and the only disappointing part of this book is the ending because now I have to wait for book 2.
What can I say about this story, hmmm well lets see. The sex scenes are so hot I thought my kindle would melt. I was rooting for the hero in the story and the heroine drove me nuts but in a good way. I cant wait to read more of this story. I consumed this story in one sitting. This story has a medical setting but it is written perfectly. It kept me on my seat.
In this book I thought that it would be ok to read. It surprised me ,It got my attention within the first chapter Not many books can do that. They is some happy times and sad times in this book and I hated the way this book ended and now I have to go buy the next in series to find out if it changes or not
That's not cool. Paige is in her head too much. Leo is barely verbal. There are many issues with this story, but I stuck it out , hoping for the best, and instead I got a wishy-washy lead female with poor decision making skills and a cliffhanger ending.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed these characters and the chemistry. This was my first book by this author and I was not disappointed, there were a few spelling errors but overall it did not take away from the story
