Brady was shear luck.

That's basically what I was saying, with a little bit of liking the project. I highly doubt if Bellichik and co are QB whisperers who can turn any later rounder into gold.

Well, I've been saying this for awhile now (Bears Pats trade), and have made several posts about it now. The difference is ... I just don't give a shit about ego, and I have zero need to procure a "calledit".

So all I have to say is fantastic thought, and great minds think alike.

I've said "If Chubb & Nelson isn't there" then let's bulk on 'still' pretty good players. Pace continue's to build through the draft, and hey Ommy, :flipa:

you literally just made a #calledit post

It would be interesting to see what Pace would do with 2, late 1st rounders, and 2, 2nd round picks. He likely would entertain another trade down in that area to get a 3rd/5th as well. Really the most important thing a rebuilding club can do is stock up on draft picks in the 1st, 3 rounds. The best way to the promise land is to have a bunch of young guys playing well on cheap contracts. This allows you to go into FA with very specific targets in mind.

Total nonsense. You are a proponent of throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks

Improvement is about getting better players, not more players. The Bears have been on the more players path for 10 years and it isnt working

More players always is better if you have a system that you trust to develop them. That's where the Bears have not had a plan for 20 years. Draft player A but expect him to just come in and be good without any through to development. There is a lot more to making a football player than where they were drafted. That's why teams like the Patriots have been good for so long despite not having a top 10 pick since forever.

Bullshit. It's about quality, not quantity. For the Bears to pass on a difference maker to pick up a few "guys" is stupid and what they have been doing forever

Don't ever confuse idiot Ryan Pace with Belichek. Pace has proven a weak drafter, while Belichek can find good players anywhere

This would be tits for the Bears if those guys are all gone already. Great equity.

Buuuuut. Tell me why Pats would go as high as #8, when they could give up less to leapfrog Miami and trade into #10, or at most pull a Pace '17 and jump up one more to #9 in case another GM shoots for #10???

After the Bears are TWO MORE NON-QB needy teams. Unless they're afraid multiple teams are moving up for their guy, it just doesn't make sense to overpay to leap 3 rungs above the next QB needy team, nor does it fit the Pats model.

I'd love this, but don't see it happening. Would LOVE to be wrong here.

Since when were 2nd rounders shit? Or 3rd rounders?

We've posted numerous articles about the economic analysis of draft equity, full of data & proof, yet you fail to even respond directly and just continue bitching.

And, NO point about anything before Pace & Negy holds any water unless you're arguing against the McCaskeys (which we all agree are terrible). Can't blame current front office for our previous butthurt, no matter how chapped we deserve to be. And we deserve to be pissed! It's not been easy to be a Bears fan esp. with G-Damn Packers and smug-ass Rodgers killing us, even damn DET...terrible. But...

Explain HOW a top 10 defense last year WITH
  1. 31st ranked offense, AND
  2. WR corps ranked dead LAST (again top 2 on IR full year) AND
  3. dead last time of possession = DEF on field the longest of any DEF?? AND
  4. vs. THE #1 Toughest strength of schedule https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/the-bears-played-the-hardest-schedule-in-2017-jaguars-and-titans-had-it-easiest/AND
  5. ALL those injuries. Yeah yeah, whine...no. FACT = HISTORIC levels last two years. Scientifically proven:
2016: Researchers Confirmed Bears Were Most Injury Impacted Team of 2016
    2017: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2018/2017-adjusted-games-lost

Try to argue any one or two of those, but to have built & fielded a top 10 Defense DESPITE ALL THAT!!!? Admit it, arrow's pointing up. Offense is in building Nancies.

Unless you think they'll be equally as shitty as Loggains calling run-run-pass?
giphy.gif

And don't blame Pace for top 2 WRs getting injured by day 1 & shitty Fox/Loggains, that's played out. We've argued about what's wrong with the OFF & we all know it was shit coaching & injuries (see above). Cupboard is getting filled, unless you care to bitch at Pace about the talent of currently slated offensive starters?? Or perhaps you expect every. single. pick. and FA to pan out?

Back to my point:
Please tell us how he turned a LAST PLACE SHITTY shit Packer droolin' defense into this TOP TEN while only using 1/3 of his last 2 drafts on defense?? (only 5 picks IIRC)

Now Starion is trying to say a couple of 2nd rounders is better than having the 8th pick in the draft. Now do you see why I flip out and rip my dick off?

^ ^ way to dodge a simple question & each of a half dozen points just made by bringing up a previous argument you lost by not comprehending science.

You miss the point by interpreting the word "best" in a different way. Draft value = % odds of a hit x player's talent vs. draft capital (=how early picked x # of picks, or points on chart). You think it's simply arguing #8 guy is more talented than a 2nd rounder. I never said that and agree on that point.

For those who understand short & long term risk allocation & probability of outcomes as is pertains to bust rates vs. success rates of ANY draft pick...it's been covered:

Bullshit, no way to justify that 2 second rounder is worth the 8th pick in the draft. If that's what a team thinks then they need a new GM and scouting staff

I edited my response to better explain it so hopefully you don't keep arguing a point as apples to oranges. I agree with you in one way dude!

Care to respond to any of the rest??

I don't like the idea of going from 8 to 23. I don't mind going to the back of the top 15, but ehhhhhhh.

Not even remotely

Mobility is what they saw in Lamar

Brissett ran a 4.94 with a 31" vertical. That's Josh Rosen. Jackson has run 4.3s. They only have 2 things in common. They are QBs and something else.
