This is the author's first book and its a 3 book story. I read this book on Kindle Unlimited.

This is Jackson and Skylar's story. This is a story of a couple that fall in love and a young woman who did not tell her love one very simple truth about herself that starts a roller-coaster of a drama in both their lives. The ramifications of her simple omission will continue to hurt their lives and those they love for years to come.

This was a engrossing read. It has all the elements that make up a great story.

On to book 2

Wow! This was extremely well-written. Usually I don't need to read about the past but at about 65% I want to know why Jackson was so "broken" for a better word. I've already obtained Book 2. It will be read by end of the week. Oh that Jackson! He made me laugh.

The first thing I have to say about this book is OMG what an awesome book this is. The book is a real page turner. I had a little bit of problem to get into the story but after a chapter, I was stuck. The books has everything you can wish for, passion, deception, betrayal, romance and suspense. The mix of everything makes this book so good and makes me emotional. I did feel so much when reading the book, I laughed and I cried.

I must say that this book is very well written and when I found out that this is the authors debute novel I was surprised. It shows so much talent and I would guess this is written from some one who has a lot of experience. No matter what the book is so well written and you feel and knows that their so much time and effort put into the book. As a reader you feel it and you feel the art in every word.

I can really recommend this book and I cant wait for more from Samaya Leighton and this series. This is one of the best books I have read in a very long time, specially in this genre. And I read a lot.

This book was Overdramatic, boring, and the characters were condescendingly dumb airheads and far too scripted to feel any connection to either of them.

Both characters Jackson and Skylar had no chemistry. Jackson gets off as a psychotic, abusive, dysfunctional jerk. Skylar had no spine and even when she thought she had one it came off lethargic and pathetic.

This book is ludicrous and the relationship between these two supposedly adults was very unhealthy especially when they Jackson tried to be in control. The back and forth between Jerky Jackson and Wimpy Skylar was nauseating and at times I skipped pages because I got tired of rolling my eyes. I was afraid they’ll fall out.

I can pinpoint a few reasons why I hated, the main male character, Jackson, he was thought to be an Alpha by being all macho and jealous but he simply came across as a certifiable pompous Jerk. The means he constantly called out Skylar about her deception and then tried to blackmail her into being in a relationship that was supposed to be on his term. "Ugh” just jump off a cliff, dude. Grow up and get over yourself.

I eventually lost interest in anything about the book, even when the author tried to make it seem that Jackson was breaking to give Skylar a chance, which was far too late.

I believe the author’s writing style of always throwing in some kind of conflict every other page and the blandness of the characters is what kept me from giving two craps about the plot. The squabble between the Jackson and Skylar took away from the storyline and I ended up didn’t caring about them.

Oh— the author sought to vilify Chris (the ex husband) as a crazy ex was so obvious from the start. Not only did she made the ex loco, she turned him into an abuser by the way, because apparently it is necessary to give male character's evil by physically assaulting female characters to garner sympathy. And then have female decide to be in a relationship with him to protect the man she says she loves but won’t tell him why she left him for a man she doesn’t love (supposedly)
I mean the man is an idiot I guess so let’s hope (Jackson’s) understand because it worked out great the first time around. Right??

And that’s how the book ended, I suppose that was simply more convenient, because she needed to stretch it out some more. I guess rather than having Skylar come clean and tell Jackson the truth she left him to protect him. So another unnecessary plot with more of the same to lead into the next book.

Does it occur to the author of this mediocre book that this conclusion fails to add anything of substance. That it would be far more innovative by subverting tropes like this by being unpredictable.

Do I want to see the same continuous plot; ‘I did this to protect the ones I love so I’ll take the abuse and they’ll understand, repeating itself? NO!

This book title have truly lived up to its epithet. It sure did “Deceived” me into thinking that I was going to be reading a feat series only to be sorely let down. This book doesn’t even merit a one star.

I’ll elapse on the others that I did downloaded, they’ll grow cobwebs in my kindle cloud where they belong.

This is my review and how I see it. In Deceived author, Samyah Leighton explores different points of view. Jackson Delaney and Skylar Deveraux were once young lovers torn apart by a lie. With the death of his brother, Jackson learns some 'truths' that will in some way bring him and Skylar back together.

This book is a grab you by the seat of your pants page turner. What you think will finally happen with this couple will leave you shocked. Skylar's ex-husband does not want to let her go and he will use all means necessary to keep her with him.

Will Skylar be able to find her way back to Jackson and Sutton or will Jackson once again feel 'Deceived'?

This story is for anyone who likes to read books about second chances.

This is my review and how I see it.

I really loved both Skylar and Jackson. But I must say I read this book with my stomach in knots. I can't wait to finish this review, so I can get to the follow on book.
But, back to this book, I'm just shaking my head at the twist and turns of this story.

Title: Deceived
(Redemption, #1)
Author: Samyah Leighton
Genre: Erotic Romance
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 JBI Stars

Your past and lies, the two things that always have a way of catching up to you.

Deceived is about all of that and more. Prepare for an emotional roller coaster ride of epic proportions.. This book hand delivers the feels big time. It’s complete with suspense, romance, heartbreak, betrayal, beauty and even a good dose of shock and awe. I laughed till I cried and cried till I laughed. For that reason alone this book is a must read.

The main characters, Jackson Delaney and Skyler Deveraux, couldn’t have been any more perfect for their parts. They share a past. Lies broke them apart and end up bringing them back into each others lives again. We see the aftermath of certain lies and watch how they attempt to heal and move on through life. However there’s still a lot of questions. What happened in their past that broke Jackson so badly? What did Skyler do to him? I need to know.

Deceived as a whole was very well written. It did take me a little bit to get into the book but once I was a few pages in, I was hooked. From the characters involved, the plot twists, and the storyline, this book was a fantastic read. Would I recommend this to my book friends? Most definitely, without a doubt! Learning that this was also the author's debut book blew me away. Samyah Leighton’s writing grabs the reader's attention early on and keeps you totally engaged till the very end.

Deceived is book one in The Redemption Series. Book two...here I come!

I received an ARC of this book for my HONEST review.

So, this is my first time reading anything by this author and I’m glad I did. It was great, I really enjoyed every minute of this read. The author had me on my toes every step of the way. I thought I would have a bad case of whip lash from this story from all the twist and turns!
Skylar is a successful business owner who has secrets from her past stride right in her front door.
This couldn’t have come at a worst time. She has others things in her life that need to be tied up and started. However, when the chance comes to take back her heart she can’t say no. Skylar is a strong and proud woman who has done well under the heartache of her past.
Jackson thought he left the lies and betrayal in the past, however, his grandfather pulls some of the biggest one right to his front door. As a football player he knows how to make the hard calls be this one would change his life forever. Jackson is a sweet man that won’t give his heart to anyone. He thinks he is protecting his heart, but he is only hiding and waiting for his true love to come back to him.
The story is a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. You never know what might happen. Jackson and Skylar have a hard road ahead of them and I’m not sure they will be able to make it to the end. I hope in the next book all the secrets will be revealed. The story leaves off in a good spot. I don’t want to say a cliffhanger but you are left wondering what will happen next.
The only part I had trouble with is the first sex scene, I don’t feel Skylar would give in that easy nor Jackson. I thought it would have been a fight to see them both in the same sack. However, that wasn’t the case and I felt a little disappointed. But that is only my opinion others might like this.
I recommend you give this story a shot it is well worth the read.
*** I was given this book for an honest review. This plays no part in how I felt about this story.***

description

Ok I loved this book, just the right amount of everything for me.
Jackson, an NFL superstar has just learned his family has been keeping a secret from him his whole life.
Skylar, in the middle of a divorce, gets an unexpected visit that can and will change everything.
Not sure how I would handle finding out that my whole family is not who I thought they were. Definitely would make me rethink my whole life that is for sure.
When Jackson tries to rebuild his family relationships he goes looking for Skylar. These two may have a bad past, but the love is still there whether they want it to be or not.
Skylar feels her life is heading in the right direction until Jackson walks back into her life. Without any warning either. After the initial shock of seeing him, Jackson lets her know the reason he is there. So he continues to put her into shock by letting her know about what he has just recently learned.
Sutton, a 14 year-old girl, is so confused about all the things she has found out. Not sure how to handle any of it, she does the best she can. She is just a young girl at the bunt of these family secrets.
They have their fights, arguments and good times.
I love the dynamics between Skylar and Jackson, it is combustible. Jackson is not one for relationships, but has agreements. When Skylar agrees, things heat up even more.
Now that everything seems to be falling into place, like they are all getting along, learning to be a family..... here comes another wrench. Skylar's ex-husband Chris. He is not happy at all that she has just upped and disappeared with out saying anything. He hires a PI to find her, and when he does.... well I will let you find that out on your own.
I am so looking forward to reading the next book, I just HAVE to know what happens.

Jackson Delaney's life has just turned upside down with the revelations that came out after his brother was killed in a drunk driving accident. Desperate to right what was wrong he asks his "niece", Sutton, to come live with him in San Antonio as he is the quarterback for the San Antonio Steelers. As he struggles to come to terms with Sutton he knows he must come face to face with the woman who broke his heart in the past, Skyler Deveraux.

Skyler has moved on from her past with Jackson and is now trying to get divorced from her husband Christopher when Jackson confronts her with their past. As Skyler tries to move forward and find a "neutral" place with Sutton and Jackson she is finally content with what the future holds. But the past just won't let go.

I must admit that when I began the book I had no idea that more were coming and as I was nearing the end I could feel that something bad was going to happen but I knew that there was not going to be enough pages to get everything resolved. Part of me was super frustrated as I really wanted a HEA but I knew I wasn't going to get it!

I enjoyed the book and I liked all of the dynamics but still have no idea what really went down between Jackson and Skyler when they were younger. There are so many questions still that I need answers too! I really liked Sutton and could understand why she was so comfortable with Jackson as opposed to Skylar.

Looking forward to the next book!

This is my first time reading anything by Samyah Leighton and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story ,The story is an emotional roller coaster ride that will have you holding on tight from start to finish, and will leave you wanting so much more. Samyah Leighton has given us it all in this story from suspense, Heartbreak, lies, secrets, betrayal , romance and plots that twist and turns with the story line that flows so smoothly .This is Jackson Delaney' s and Skylar Deveraux story .Jackson 's life is turned upside down after his brother is killed in a drunk driving accident and in desperate he asks his "niece" Sutton to come live with him in San Antonio ,that's where he's a quarterback for the Steele's .But as he struggles to come to terms with Sutton ,there's something he must ,come face to face with the one woman who broke his heart and that is Skylar Deveraux. But Skylar has moved on from Jackson and is now trying to divorce her husband Christopher when who comes back from her past no other then Jackson .But as Skylar is trying to move on with Jackson and Sutton ,she finally feeling content with what the future might hold for her.But the past just won't let go . Can they get the past from destroying them again ? I could go on and tell you so much more about this sweet story ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this great story, because you won't be disappointed.

Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog

First off this book was one heck of a roller coaster ride. I wanted to pop a calm yourself down pill in Jackson's mouth. LOL

Skylar is a real estate broker that made a life for herself in L.A. But that was only after she suffered a lot of heartache. She was in love with Jackson and that kept her from loving anyone else..She became pregnant with Jackson's child. After dealing with his "father" she gave up custody to her daughter. But there is a huge twist to the story.

Jackson is an man who can't forget his past with the only woman he loved. He has tried to move on but he just can't. He becomes a womanizer that only uses woman for one thing, their body. He became a star player in the NFL. He learns of a death in the family. That death changes his life and brings back the one person he tried so hard to get over, Skylar.

This is one heck of a mind playing book. It messes with your emotions..
It is a cliffhanger!!!

Enjoyed this book to the fullest!! I want book 2!!!

OMG, This book was so good!

I could not put it down. Gosh, but my heart just bleeds for Skylar, Jackson, and Sutton. They worked so hard to adjust to each other as a family. Jackson was so afraid of not being hurt again. He carried that hurt for fifteen years. Skylar was the only woman he ever loved and never let another woman get close to him. Skylar was so in love with Jackson, it affected her marriage. Just when they are coming to terms with being in each other's life again...BOOM... the crazy ex happens.

Samyah wrote a book that was well plotted with complicated characters that needed to overcome some serious problems of trust and love. This story had lots of mystery and unexpected twisting plots. I can't wait to find out what Chris has on Skylar in the next book.

NOTE: This book was re-read on Kindle and listened to using Audible.com. I loved the narrator, C. Allan Kelly. His voice really made the story come to life and set the mood. He made me swoon a couple of times. I loved his voice.

WOW what an emotional roller coaster this book will take you on. I loved it. I was hooked from the beginning and left wanting oh so much more at the end. It has it all Suspense, heartbreak, lies, betrayal, secrets, and romance. the plot twists and storyline will have you hooked.

Jackson and Skyler shared a past. Lies broke them apart but they also brought them back into on another's lives. You get to see how they heal and move on from some lies but you are still left wondering what the hell Skyler did to break Jackson 15 years ago.

After reading this one and the way it left me I know I will be reading book 2.

Mixed Feelings

This is a new author for me and this book was highly recommended. While I truly loved Skylar and Jackson's story; I was equally irritated with the characters at times.

I found Jackson somewhat selfish, domineering and overbearing at times. Even though he has been hurt by people he loved, his behaviour was cruel for the most part.

Skylar was too submissive, even though I know it was fueled by guilt. Chris, I just didn't like him at all, he was too controlling. With that being said, I am anxious to see how this saga turns out. On to the next book in the series.

This was a really great read. There's so much going on you'll be reading till the end just to see what's going to happen. I'm glad book 2 is out now, so I don't have to wait to see what occurs or is going to happen. To read how Skylar, Jackson and Sutton go through the situation they are in was interesting. I recommend this book if you like stories with lots to discover.
