Wyndham Worldwide Gives Pediatrics Patients a Fun-Filled “Vacation Day” as Part of Wyndham Championship Week

Patients at Brenner Children’s Hospital enjoy day of classic beach boardwalk-themed games

Greensboro, N.C., 2012-08-20 — /travelprnews.com/ — Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN), one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, brought some fun and sun from the Wyndham Championship to the patients, families, and staff in the pediatrics department at Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C., with a “Vacation Day” full of entertainment and classic beach boardwalk-themed games.

“We are honored to be welcomed into Brenner Children’s Hospital to share this special day with the patients and their families,” said Mary Falvey, executive vice president and chief human resources officer of Wyndham Worldwide. “Today’s ‘Vacation Day’ is another way Wyndham Worldwide and the Wyndham Championship show their ongoing support for this community and their dedication to helping children’s lives.”

During the visit by Wyndham Worldwide, the children’s playroom at Brenner Children’s Hospital was transformed into a fun vacation “oasis” featuring beach and boardwalk games and activities. The children got to dress up in beach attire and accessories to have their picture taken on the boardwalk, with other classic boardwalk activities including sand art, mini putting green, fishing for ducks in the duck pond, and more. Captain Jim, a local magician, also wowed the children and staff with a high energy, interactive magic show, and a face painter rounded out the day’s activities.

In addition to the “Vacation Day,” Wyndham Worldwide partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundation and the PGA TOUR Wives Association to unveil two Starlight Fun Center™ mobile entertainment units featuring a Nintendo Wii™. Fun Centers roll right up to the patient’s bedside, or anywhere else in the hospital, providing fun and comfort for patients of all ages nervously awaiting surgery, sitting restlessly during a long treatment, or feeling lonely or bored.

One of the signature charities of Wishes by Wyndham, Starlight Children’s Foundation has been dedicated for more than 25 years to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.
