Calling All Units.

Today at Gamescom, Ubisoft announced the next major expansion for its racing game, The Crew. Titled "Calling All Units," this is the racer's second significant add-on, following Wild Run. It comes out on November 29 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, while an Ultimate Edition is also coming that day.

Calling All Units lets you hit the streets as a cop or a street racer for a "police chase fantasy," Ubisoft said in a press release. There is a 12-mission story that introduces the police-versus-racer gameplay, featuring "fully tuned" vehicles and more.

"In this always-on, all-terrain confrontation, each side will rely on a set of special abilities and a great variety of vehicles as they race across the US," reads a line from the expansion's description.

As a member of the police force, players can chase down racers and arrest them to earn better police vehicles--including "legendary motorbikes" and an "indestructible SUV." You can also choose to play as a racer and attempt to evade capture. Successfully getting away with some cargo will yield "high rewards." Racers are buffed with special abilities like "blinding flashbangs" and unlimited nitro.

These police chases can be triggered anywhere in The Crew at anytime, Ubisoft said. A price for Calling All Units was not announced. Ubisoft said everyone can be a racer, but you'll need to buy the add-on to chase people down as a cop, apparently. Additionally, all players are getting a new level cap: 60.

Ubisoft is also releasing a The Crew Ultimate Edition. This comes with the base game and the two expansions, Wild Run and Calling All Units, as well as the season pass cars. This version of the game goes on sale on November 29 alongside the Calling All Units release, though pricing was not announced.

Finally, Ubisoft said today that The Crew has seen nine million players since its launch in December 2014. The game hasn't necessarily sold that many copies, however, as there is a free trial available and the game was free on Xbox Live earlier this year. Still, getting nine million people to try something is pretty impressive.
