*5) Training Outline
- 308 Today: http://308today.blogspot.com/ (training outline host site with lots of additional materials)
- Skyward training database link; use this to practice without affecting your ‘live’ gradebook (the highlights below show the differences in the path between the training database and the live database):
-----------------------
- Gradebook Basics (most used functions): View screencasts & practice via training classes if available
- Logon to live gradebooks (tip: create shortcut to logon screen on desktop or bookmarks bar)
- Student Information
- Time savers!
- Reports
- Additional topics
- Posting grades (grades post automatically)
- If you’re adding assignments after the last day of the grading period, ensure the new assignment dates fall within the window for that grading period!
- Transfer grades (Display options > Students Display > check Dropped Students box)
- Grade changes and filling in missing grades (check with registrar or NetAdmins/TIGs near the end of the grading period for instructions)
- Points vs. Percents (This is not currently supported by the district… all grades for 2015-16 must be entered on a 100 point scale!) I’m leaving this info here in case we ever go back to using points based on assignment difficulty (ie more points for more difficult assignments), because from a teacher’s perspective, it’s a far easier and more accurate way of assessing grades!
