Construction unions are so Âeager to get in on Mayor de Blasio’s plan to build 200,000 units of affordable housing that they’ve Âoffered to take a pay cut, sources told The Post.
The Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York has proposed cost savings as high as 40 percent if the administration includes union labor in its mammoth, 10-year building plan.
Currently, many of the projects to build below-market housing — particularly in the outer boroughs — employ cheaper, nonunion workers.
De Blasio is set to unveil his Âaffordable-housing plan Thursday.
