Details Site of a short cist, discovered in 1985. A substantial well-built cist with massive capstone 1.88 m by 1.10 m by 0.17 m was found 8 m west of the cairn on the summit of Tappoch. The cist was aligned east-west. It contained the well-preserved skeleton of an exceptionally tall male, aged over 45, lying on his right side, pointing west and facing south. The floor was covered with a layer of specially selected red, white and green quartzite pebbles. A small burnt flint core lay at shoulder and a flint spall at waist. The cist has been reconstructed in Elgin Museum.
